Housing at Cambridge

Hi all! 

I'll be starting an MPhil at the University of Cambridge in the fall. I've been accepted to St. John's and need to send in a housing preference. Does anyone have advice on whether to choose the traditional, staircase-style, graduate dorms in Corfield Court, or one of the hostels on Madingley Road? 

Any insight is so appreciated!

If I were you, I would choose a grad dorm. 

MPhi is just a year, I think it is not too long to live in a dorm. If over 2 years, at that time I would reconsider but 1 year sonds OK to me. 

Actually I am awaiting 'offer' mail. If offered, I would choose living in a dorm without hesitation.
