From what other sources will you receive aid? Question on Assistantship Application

The question on my assistantship/fellowship application (for the school itself, not outside funding) reads: "From what other sources (savings, trust funds, government sponsorship, etc.) will you receive aid? Please specify amount." I think they're asking how much of my savings I can commit to fund myself, and not what is really in my savings account, but how do I answer this?

Interesting take on the question. I left that question blank.

I always said zero or something close to that because obviously I could never support myself at a place that didn't give me full funding. Taking out loans to go to grad school was never an option.

In this case I was able to list 2 award that I have received for graduate study, but as for savings or any other income to contribute I was SOL
