Wasp in the Lotus Posted September 20, 2016 Posted September 20, 2016 Hey all, Looking for recommendations on schools/potential POI's for the history of media and mass culture in 20th century America. Open to both US and Canadian schools. Thank you!
Neist Posted September 23, 2016 Posted September 23, 2016 What sort of subject are you specifically interested in within the history of media/mass culture? It's difficult to give you any specific answer without a bit more details.
thebeachbum Posted October 21, 2016 Posted October 21, 2016 (edited) Not a history program but Stony Book's Cultural Studies program might be a good fit with its interdisciplinary approach and faculty coverage in areas like popular and mass culture, visual culture, and media and technology. If you're interested in topics related to mass culture and the cultural history of sound and music Emily Thompson at Princeton (apply history of science program) is also a good fit. The Hagley Program at the University of Delaware (David Suisman) is another potential fit for students interested in topics like capitalism, technology, and consumption.
