Shri Venkat Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 Hello, I am planning on applying to the MALD program at Fletcher school. I do not have full time work experience, but I do have the experience of working on a couple research papers of international relevance, working for a year at an NGO founded by Gandhi (teaching members of the organization English and conducting skill building workshops for destitute women). I have also interned for a year at a private wealth management firm and at Goldman Sachs during the summer. I additionally worked under a government official to help him conduct a study on the impact of a government subsidy scheme. I have also participated in a number of MUNs and parliamentary debates and won awards as a debater. I am pursuing Economics as my undergraduate degree and am in the 90th percentile of my class. My GRE scores however, are quite low- Verbal-152 Quants-155 AWA-4.5. I would like to know my chances of getting into the MALD program at Fletcher. I will also be applying to John Hopkins SAIS, Yale Jackson, McCourt School Georgetown, and CIR UChicago.
went_away Posted October 10, 2016 Posted October 10, 2016 A bit confused by your post; your resume feels spotty and weak until GOLDMAN SACHS comes out of nowhere. If you truly did a summer internship at Goldman Sachs - one of the most competitive internships in the world to get - you should be competitive at nearly any top international affairs school, including Fletcher's MALD program.
Shri Venkat Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 @went_away Thanks for this. I didn't think that would be enough because I would be competing against other applicants who might be having a full work experience at Goldman Sachs, for a period of one or two years as opposed to my internship for two months.
