João Monteiro Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 Hey guys, I scored 164 in the quant section of the GRE. I was hoping to apply to top US universities for a PhD program in Finance (e.g. MIT, Harvard, ...). Do you guys think this is enough or should I retake the test? Thanks in advance!
Warelin Posted October 11, 2016 Posted October 11, 2016 I'm not sure if Harvard has a PhD Program in Finance. I know they have a Master's program in Finance through the extension school. Or are you considering Harvard's Business Economics with a concentration in Finance? http://www.hbs.edu/doctoral/areas-of-study/business-economics/Pages/default.aspx Ultimately, what are you trying to achieve through the degree? According tohttp://magoosh.com/gre/2013/gre-scores-for-business-schools/, your score is slightly below average. Harvard's average for the MBA is in the 94th percentile. Your score would need to be raised to 166 to be equivalent. However, keep in mind, that even a perfect score might not be enough. More people are rejected than accepted. As such, there are many different factors that could impact your acceptance or rejection.
João Monteiro Posted October 12, 2016 Author Posted October 12, 2016 I was hoping to be accepted into the Business Economics program in Harvard, among other schools... But thanks a lot for taking the time to answer!
