imunster Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 (edited) Hi Folks, This is mainly geared towards people who are applying to California state schools. I am going through CSUMentor and came across the portion that asks for "Academic References". It asks for the institution they teach at and their position. I am applying to a few of these CSU programs and they made it explicitly clear that they will accept 2 letters that are academic and 1 could be from somewhere else (work, volunteer, etc). How am I supposed to fill this part out? Do the references in CSUMentor need to match up with the people I am requesting letters from?! Or do I simply leave this section blank!? SOS!! jmk Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 I heard through the grapevine (no fact) that those references aren't used for our program. I guess some different programs use the CSU Mentor references, but since we're sending letters, I don't think they get used.
imunster Posted October 30, 2016 Author Posted October 30, 2016 I ended up emailing a few of the CSU's and their answers were basically to fill out that section to the best of your ability if they are not an academic reference. So their job title would be their "position" and the company they work for would be "institution". Hope this helps someone out!
