Post-Grad. Looking to Start A Private Practice. Finding Mental Health Office Space

Recommended Posts

I recently graduated! Painful process, but I'm finally done. I'm thinking about going into private practice (clinical psych, dementia, behavioral, neuropsych). Any advice from the more experienced members (billing, mistakes you've made)?

I'd like to rent out locations part-time in multiple areas - I think that'd be the best way for a new grad to start. Any advice on this?

Here are some websites that' have helped me find mental therapy space to rent part- time: Clineeds (www.clineeds.com). There's a couple of other websites - psychoffice.com and psychspaces.net. State classified pages has a few also.

Hi there,

You would probably have better luck posting/searching on reddit. There are several posts about this on the psychotherapy board. After I graduated I worked in my supervisor's private practice and gave her half of my hourly rate instead of having to rent out space and pay for overhead costs. It'd be worth looking into overhead costs for renting a space and deciding if it's worth it, especially because it takes a while to build up a client base.
