BilboSwaggins Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 Hello all, I last took AP stats in high school. I need a refresher on the basic stuff as well as some more advanced material. Here's a copy/paste of all the topics I need to know: Set theory, properties of probability, conditional probability, Bayes’ rule, independence, random variables, cdf, pdf, joint distribution, marginal distribution, conditional distribution, mean, properties of expectation, variance, covariance, correlation, moment generating function, uniform distribution, normal distribution, Bernouli distribution, Binomial distribution, exponential distribution, Markov chains, law of large numbers, central limit theorem, t-test, Wald test, confidence interval, pvalue, power of a test I hesitate to check out a book from the library simply because they often don't have answers in the back or whatnot. I need to be able to teach it to myself, using only occasional help from online forums such as this, or whatever. Can anyone recommend a resource? Thanks!
edward130603 Posted February 5, 2017 Posted February 5, 2017 My intro probability course used "A First Course in Probability" by Sheldon Ross. Has solutions in the back, and you can find pdfs of it online. Maybe also khan academy. Robbentheking 1
GoPackGo89 Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 Almost every elementary probability theory and statistics textbook will cover those topics. I used: Larsen and Marx An Introduction to Mathematical Statistics
