Night time is usually when I am most at ease, because I know everyone is sleeping and I won't receive any word at that time. The hardest part is when I know they are in their offices. So... when I am trying to teach my 1st graders and I hear that I have an email, I have a hard time focusing on my job. I should probably mute my computer for the sake of my students. Ha. I'm lucky to have been doing a bit of traveling and had time to visit family after submitting my applications. I can't imagine being anxious and having to work through it for months on end! Best of luck to you!

Unfortunately, I am stuck to my routine life for the next few weeks while I wait.
ra42890 Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 My biggest concern lately is this: My fiance is also applying to doctoral programs. He has been accepted at University of Washington (where I also applied) and Florida State (where I have also applied). I have been told that both places are not great places to find new teaching jobs. My biggest fear is that I will have to leave my current teaching job to follow him and then have to work a minimum wage/serving job. It would just be perfect for us both to get our PhDs at the same time rather than me having to put my career on hold while he does his.
ra42890 Posted March 7, 2017 Author Posted March 7, 2017 Phew. Just found out from FSU that I have been accepted! No serving tables for me! Still holding out for Washington though. That is my top choice for sure!! Kayce 1

melitree12 Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I'm in a slightly different situation than most of y'all, but the waiting game has been driving me crazy as well. I heard back from my first two schools in early February, got accepted w/ funding, and figured I'd hear back from the other two in a few days. Yeah, no. It's been a month. The wait is killing me; I just want to have all my cards on the table and be able to make my decision... >.<
partypope Posted March 8, 2017 Posted March 8, 2017 I'm an international student applying to masters programs in Canada. I have been doing everything I can to make myself a viable candidate for the past two years, but it feels like it isn't enough. I have applied to four schools, and three of them have sent me rejection letters. I'm just waiting on the last one now (UBC) but I really feel at this stage that there is no hope for me, and it is getting hard to handle. It's not just the stress of waiting, but the dawning realisation that I will not be able to pursue what I have dedicated myself to, that I was not able to convince those universities that I am good enough. I know there's always next round, I can do a working holiday until then and try to make some money and connections. I cannot help but feel crushed at the prospect of getting 100% rejections though. I think a lot of the stress comes from not knowing how you are going to be feeling a couple of hours, days, weeks from now depending on when you get that email. If I get an acceptance at the 11th hour, I will be the happiest I have ever been. If it's another rejection, it will be really rough for a while. Being in the limbo state between the two is the worst part.
