UCSD vs GaTech for ECE

Hi,

I have been accepted into the MS in ECE program at UC San Diego and Georgia Tech. My focus will be on signal processing with a thesis possibly on another topic depending on the advisor. I plan to go for a Ph.D. later on as well.

In my mind, the advantage of GaTech is better reputation/ranking while for UCSD it is the location, California.

Yep, you pretty much said it right. GaTech has better ECE ranking, BUT UCSD is actually not too bad itself. If you are sure you want to do Ph.D, then you should go to GaTech.

 

If you want to get industry job in CA, then UCSD might be a good choice.
