What are the best PhD programs in political sociology? When I say political sociology I don't really mean social movements - which I've noticed is generally regarded as synonymous with political sociology - but moreso the area of research that examines things like political socialization, the reciprocal relationship between society and political institutions, political conflict, etc. I'm also interested in social movements, so don't count that out, but I'd prefer programs where political sociology more generally doesn't take a backseat. Recommendations for top tier programs in the field are great, but second and third tier recommendations are welcomed (and desired - who knows if I'll get lucky with my acceptances or not?). Thanks in advance!
