Wow that's really impressive. I've only been to one of the schools I applied to and it was a looooong time ago. I did talk to faculty members though and talked to a lot of profs here at my undergrad to see what they knew and thought about various schools. But in the end, almost no ones does the sort of research I want to do, so that severely limited my choices. But I'm happy overall . . . though hearing back from schools would be amazing!

Saber! So that was your report on the results board! Congrats! I still haven't heard a peek from anyone. In fact, my UPenn application status still claims an 'incomplete package', tho' the univ said it's received everything. Bah!

Hey Everyone,

Okay, so last year Brown and JHU started sending out acceptances Feb. 14/15, and U Chicago and NYU the following week. I'm starting to really lose it. Has anyone heard anything from these schools? I also applied to UPENN and UVA, but I have no idea when those are going to start to go out.

It's interesting to me how little traffic there is on here for anthropology, compared to some of the other disciplines. I wonder if anth majors are more patient? If so, I'm definitely the exception to the rule. I want to know right now, and am obsessively checking to see if anyone else at my schools have heard anything.

Ha ha! What u talking about?! I refresh my inbox every 5 minutes... And i seem to be visiting this site every time i happen to be online. I even check my spam box regularly, in case a mail (hopefully an acceptence letter) made its way there.

Congrats on Ohio State! That's a great school!

I also feel like I'm checking my inbox and this website all the time. I know it's still a little early but I'd really just like to be accepted somewhere! All my friends applying in other disciplines have officially been accepted to schools and I haven't heard anything! It's intensely nerve wracking!

hooray! i fixed my login problems and am back on thegradcafe! you guys might have thought i'd somehow nixed my addiction to this forum and was sipping peacefully on a nice glass of iced tea while waiting patiently to hear back from schools- but no! i've been checking the results page of this site over and over whilst refreshing my email and checking the mail!

congrats to everyone who got in somewhere during my absence- and damn you! i'm jealous. i'm going CRAZY with the waiting. was thinking of getting some ritalin from a young, adhd-stricken child to help me focus on other things during the wait.

Yeah, according to last year's stats, I'm looking at the middle of February for one, the beginning of March for another, and god only knows for Tulane, since apparently no one on these boards has every gone there.

However, I'd like to know right now. Please.

I spoke with the admissions sec from Johns Hopkins yesterday, and he told me the committee will be phoning and emailing students for interviews in March...March!!! Last year JHU started accepting anthropology students, without interviews, on Feb 15th. Has anyone heard anything from them...supposedly they already have some interviews scheduled... :x

This wait is killing me! According to the site I should be getting some sort of news in the next week from 2 schools. But we'll see if that actually happens! I'm ridiculously nervous and excited at the same time. I've been checking my e-mail and this site every chance I get hoping to hear something!

Additionally, having interviews is crazy! I was under the impression anthro didn't really do interviews?

Okay, that's horrible, nailbiter. This whole process is ridiculous. There's no reason why schools couldn't give you a reasonable (and definite) timeline for decisions.

And while they're at it, they could use the same damn forms. Or at least require the same number of copies of the same documents. While I'm wishing.

Whoot! I check my U Wisconson-Madison applicant page today and found out that I was admitted! Haven't received anything yet in the way of emails or letters, so I'm still slightly nervous for some reason. I'll be gleeful when I see the acceptance in hard copy! :)

congratulations!!! you are awesome!!!! (i can be genuinely happy for you since i didn't apply to wisconsin). i have a friend in madison and she swears that it is the best city in the universe.

i want to know now too. this is a bunch of crap!

Oh my gosh that's great! I applied to Wisconsin too, but with an archaeology concentration, so maybe that's different! I'm just glad people are hearing back, I want this misery of waiting to end!

Well, I can tell u who didn't get into Florida. Me. Bummer...

Aww. That stinks. :-(

I have also not heard anything from Florida which is a little worrisome. What do you think that means?

Posted

Maybe the people who heard can clarify? Like, if you got a rejection, was it a form letter? What about the folks that got in....did you get a letter from the department in general, or from a specific professor who will be working with you?

Please help relieve our anxiety????

The acceptance from UFL was an informal email from the grad program assistant (that I solicited). Formal letters go out the end of next week.

notyourmama, I haven't heard anything from UNC - how did you hear of your acceptance/funding?

Oh! That makes me feel a lot better. I'm starting to get worried since people are starting to hear back from places and I haven't heard anything at all! But I think I can handle waiting till the end of the week to find out. :-)
