I just found this one as I am stressing myself over GRE scores. I have been told damn near everything from every damn person. So at this point, the best I can even think of is that it matters, but doesn't matter, and sometimes does matter a little. I'm personally terrified I am going to miss out on a great program because I was never good at math. I studied for a year straight to be great at stats and am now relatively competent. But after 5 retakes, the best I could ever muster was a 149. My Verbal is a 158 and my writing was a 5.5. But it still scares me that I am going to miss out on some schools because I have a quantitative in the 140 range.

I guess it is a number of factors and honestly, I'm happy just getting into a decent program and working at a decent school for the rest of my life. I just hope my work, my writing, and my more positive factors get me over the hump.
