I'll be at HGSE in the fall for an Ed.M! just started looking into housing too, and some of the prices are insane. I just want to be close to a T stop, and not too far from campus. I just paid my enrollment deposit today. SO STOKED!

I still can't believe I got accepted. Anyone else thinking this is completely ridiculous? I keep thinking that they obviously made a mistake....computer error....something...it's surreal. my mother has already told everyone she knows! hah! Who's going to be attending HGSE this fall??

Grad student quality of life at Stanford and Harvard?
oiseauaudio replied to xbomber88's topic in Decisions, Decisions
I don't know anything about the Physics department at either school, however i can tell you that most people I met when I was visiting Harvard (students and professors) were really really nice and friendly. i got a really good vibe. i worked at Stanford for close to 4 years, and can tell you that my experience of interacting with profs and students alike on a day to day basis was pretty different. i definitely didnt get the same vibe that i got from Harvard folks. Also, to be completely honest, I'm not a huge Palo Alto fan. around campus, it's not that diverse.....there's a main street "California Avenue" where all the shops/ student cafes and restaurants are, and that's OK, but I really like Harvard Square and Boston a lot more. Definitely go check out both places, if you can before you make your decision. Just my 2 cents, but I don't know anyone who is at either place for Physics unfortunately. Good luck and congrats!!! i'll be at Harvard in the Fall for a Master's in Education! -
Hey Eupa, I got rejected on Monday from the SCS PhD program by email. it was a poorly written and cold rejection. I hope that you get some better news from them. I am not sure if acceptances go out via mail, even though that is what the website says. Keep your head up! Even though I got rejected from Cal, that same night I was admitted to Harvard.....so your luck can change!!!

HI there, I think for certain schools, such as Stanford and UPenn, they look for competitive GRE scores, particularly for PhD applicants. I think you'd certainly have an excellent shot at Master's programs, but like Sophiemouse said, you're also competing with other applicants, who might have similar work experience and scores. It's a tough call. I didn't do well on the GRE, and was rejected from Stanford and UPenn for PhD programs, but accepted at HGSE for a Master's. I think it would be worth your while to re-take the GRE, if you are concerned about it. Good luck!!!

haven't heard anything more from UCSB! I'll let you know what happens! GOOD LUCK!!!

Congrats everyone! Who's in for Human Dev & Psych Ed.M???

I got a personal email back from julia bourquin-associate director of admissions saying official letters are supposed to go out by end of the day today. here's the text of part of the email. hope this helps!! we’re actually notifying applicants about Ed.M. status at the end of the day today – there was a minor glitch overnight which allowed you a sneak preview of your admit. That is why you were unable to access the prematriculation website – it’s not quite ready yet.

bde123, which program were you accepted to? CONGRATS!
-
No. The application website is where you go to check your application status/ decision status. If you get accepted, there will be a link to the prematriculation website in your acceptance letter. GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Hi all, I too applied for the Ed.D, but was accepted to the Ed.M! I emailed to ask about logging into the prematriculation website, and got a nice personal email back saying that there was a glitch in the application portal and basically, Ed.M letters are going out officially today, so you should all hopefully hear today. I had an issue wherein I logged in today and saw my Ed.M acceptance letter, then I re-logged back in, and saw the Ed.D rejection letter, so I was totally confused thinking that I was mistakenly admitted! That's why I emailed, and also because I couldn't access the prematric webstie! So, I hope you all hear today! I guess those of us that heard last night, it was a glitch, and those letters were supposed to go out today! So, you should all hopefully get your official decisions in the apply yourself page today! GOOD LUCK!!!!!
