  1. Accepted a spot at Brandeis! Would love to hear from others that might also be going there. Good luck to everyone waiting. Being a part of this group has made this process so much easier and less stressful, and if this little message board is any indication of what our future colleagues will be like..then I have high hopes!
  2. Has anyone heard from or know any possible timeline for Johns Hopkins?
  3. I did call and they will see what they can do. We shall see! Thank you!
  4. Hi everyone. I just got an interview at Maryland..yay! I'm really worried though..the only date left available is 3/31 when I will be out of the country. Anyone have any suggestions as to what to do? I called and they will try to see what they can do but not looking good. Should I cancel a trip my boyfriend and I have planned for a year and is completely paid for? Or give up the interview slot? What a Catch-22. I do have interviews at VCU and Brandeis but also really love Maryland's program. Long shot...if anyone has a Maryland interview that is literally any other day other than the 31st would you be willing to switch?!?
  5. Hi guys I posted a little bit ago (prematurely freaked out about not hearing about an interview) but figured I'd introduce myself! I'm really happy to have found a little online community to talk about the application process. I graduated 4 years ago from undergrad (3.6 GPA) and have my MPH (3.8ish). I work in community based research as a program manager. While I have a lot of research experience within healthcare, I'm nervous that none of that is in genetics. I'm really interested in grief work so for advocacy experience I volunteer as a group facilitator in a support group for kids that are grieving. I've been doing it for 2 years and It's super rewarding. I'm relatively new to the profession so I took the online "Genetic Counseling Career" course through the University of South Carolina...I would definitely recommend it! It was really interesting and very helpful. I applied to Brandeis (interview 3/17), VCU (interview 3/3), Maryland, Johns Hopkins, and Wisconsin. This whole process is pretty crazy and all the student bios are so stellar, so I'm definitely a little intimidated. I've only been able to shadow a couple of times so hoping that doesn't hurt me too much. Wishing good luck to everyone!
  6. Guess I shouldn't have freaked out so soon because I got an interview at VCU! Yay! If anyone wants recommendations for places to eat or check out in Richmond, let me know! It's a great city with lots to do.
  7. Ah thanks for talking me off the ledge! Can't wait till this process is over...
  8. Hi everyone! So happy to have found this site! Nice to have a little community. I'm nervous people have started hearing from VCU. I'm in-state and VCU is definitely my top choice. Anyone know how they send out their interview invites? Is it a lost cause at this point...?
