where are the non-abroad people's interview invitations from SAIC? should I assume rejection?
btw, lyslys - that MoMA video was great! long but very informative and it was interesting to hear their side so to speak.
yes, the email also states:
"Please Note: Submission of an application for the Margot and Thomas Pritzker Scholarship in many cases is prior to notification of admission to SAIC. Completion of scholarship application has no bearing on admission decisions."
so basically it sounds like you just apply in case you get accepted but being invited or "receiving" the scholarship has nothing to do with wether you are/will be admitted or not.
Emoree - I applied to herron as well. from last years thread it seemed like people got acceptances in early march so no reason to assume you weren't accepted due to the jan. 15 deadline. don't know about IUB though. I went to one of their photo critiques in the fall and I wanted to apply but the international deadline was like dec. 1 and I missed it.
anyways, march seems soooo far away! i'm worse than ever when it comes to obsessively checking my email. gaah!
I got the same e-mail. I don't think it really means anything other than that you are encouraged to apply if you are eligble but that it won't affect you acceptance..
Almost done with my applications.. Just nervous about my portfolio since one of my professors e-mailed me about changes/saying some was weaker and that I have stronger images I should include instead. I sort of agree but I don't want to look "scattered" and rather show 2 series of images that are cohesive than including some images that may be stronger but don't work well with the rest. I have one series that I'm happy with and feel confident about and then I have more recent work that just isn't resolved yet. hmmm....
I'm applying to:
SAIC
VCU
Herron School of Art and Design
Washington University in St. Louis
University of Florida
University of Arizona
for photo!
Just FYI- I got something in the mail from SAIC about a reduced app fee if you apply before Nov. 30. I think you have to submit the online application and fee by that date, however, you don't have to submit additional materials (portfolio, letters of rec) until the regular deadline.
Yes, I'm from Sweden. I haven't thought about TAIK. I did my undergrad in the United States so I'm leaning towards staying here for my MFA as well. Where are you looking?
Another question regarding photo portfolios-- I work a lot in diptychs and triptychs and a previous photo professor just told me to make sure I pair those images together when I submit my portfolio (in the same file I guess?) as opposed to having single images standing on their own. The relationship between the images that I pair are important to the conceptual ideas of my work so I agree with her point, however, I wasn't sure if this is frowned upon by schools? I was thinking that if the total amount is 20 images (1 file with the diptych counting as 2 images) it would be OK?
Thoughts?
michaelwebster and DrawMinimal - wow. big thanks! it's great to get some feedback outside of my tiny liberal arts bubble.
do you guys have any recommendations of well funded programs that would suit my work?
caitlingm - really really enjoy your work! i think the different parts of your work (sculpture, drawings/paintings, performance) works really well together and adds additional depth to the work without being distracting or trying to do to much.
Hello all,
I'm applying for the first time this year. I just graduated with a BA in Studio Art this spring so we will see how it goes.. Any feedback or suggestions of programs is greatly appreciated!
