I dont suppose any of you know if theres a way to get the exams for free...? or does everyone shell out $21 for each study guide?

two questions 1. do you guys think my laziness in undergrad will come back to bite me in the ass? lol like will companies/future employers/post docs ask for your undergrad transcript? 2. how much do the us news rankings of chem grad schools (or for specific fields like orgo) matter? do you think they're in any way valid or whatever?

how much is everyone's stipends? just curious

lol im not sure how to accept my admission offer. should it just be a one sentence email..."hey i want to accept your offer" yea I wasnt lying when I said I am socially inept.

exactly how formal should we be dressing for visitation days? semi formal? i guess? im going with dress shirt and jeans but im not sure if tahts too casual

^ aw man. the way you guys are talking about visitation days is making me kind of nervous.about how we have to make a good impression and whatnot. im pretty socially inept. i hope my awkwardness doesnt affect me getting into labs.

is it safe to assume that rice is no longer accepting people?

yea although I'm pretty sure I got rejected...I havent heard anything either from Vanderbilt either. sigh

is it frowned upon to email a school and ask them about our status in regards to a waitlist...? or is it too soon?

^ okay so that sounds kind of bad. but I took the same approach applying to grad schools that I did with undergrad...a bunch of top choice/reach schools...and some safeties taht I didnt really like that much but after seeing what people wrote about how one could always reapply next year, im not too sure about even wanting to go to the safeties even if I got in. I mean there are some professors at the safeties whose research interests me but...

do you guys know anything about uc riverside in terms of like reputation and like how satisfied the students are? I mean I applied cuz their application fee was free but ierno...

...how are people generally going about visitation weekends? are people missing school to go? I don't know how I feel about going from one coast to another in just one weekend.

I would be willing to do another research project...but I wouldnt even know where to look for one tbh (that is if I cant manage to get into any schools...I have no acceptances either at this point)

when i sent in my transcripts, the grades for first semester, senior year didnt come out yet....will the schools want an updated transcript?

how do schools generally feel about professors sending in recs late? I've sent in my apps well ahead of the deadline but one of my professors sent in hers late. like 12 days late. i have no idea what was going on there. also in the results page...someone said in the comments for rice that the department was only sending out 25 offers...is that a typical number? are they going to send out more to the waitlisted people (not on the waitlist for rice...just using as an example) i am freaking out omg. should have studied harder as an undergrad lol

well they did say they'd assume i was still interested unless I said otherwise... a phone call seems too over the top...like a phone call would require a conversation when I really just want to let them now I'm interested which is like two sentences on my part dont know if an email would be too informal ...

what would you guys say is the best next step if you got a waitlist letter? anyone else get any? i feel like everyone in this thread is getting acceptance letters except me. what would be the best way to contact them to let them know we are still interested? email? phone? i suck at phone calls tho.

has anyone applied to BC yet? the department requirements website says there should be a statement of purpose....but I'm pretty much just getting a page where I'm allowed to like insert two sentences for research interests...

what would you guys say would be a good word count for the argument essay? the issue essay? Im getting around 375 for the argument and its not that I dont have more to say...its just that I cant type that fast. My gre is in like a week so should I be worried? also im really scared about the issue essay. Should I have read more novels to prepare? Do people use novels as examples/supporting evidence? I feel like the evidence I'm giving isnt particularly specific. so any advice would be greatly appreciated D:
