Out of curiosity, what are everyone's research interests? I would love to connect with people who have similar interests and are applying this year. Personally, I am interested in eating disorders & obesity, and applying to clinical/counseling programs.

I am assuming you are applying to grad school, if not, I don't think these answers would apply. 1. Yes, include it! Just have the name of the poster session (ex: Psychology Department Poster Sessions, Honors Poster Session) 2. Def. include it - like someone else said, just say it is (In preparation) 3. I would try to include it everything you have done - data entry, data collection, recruiting participants, literature reviews, etc. If you look at school websites, a lot of grad students have their CVs poster, and it can be good examples of what it should look like at the end. Feel free to PM me your CV if you want edits - I have spent quite a bit of time working on mine and had several people look over it. I am sure other posters would be happy to help as well.

Thank you everyone. I went back to my list of schools - my verbal score is 20-50 points below the average one for around half of my top choice schools (most of them very competitive) - otherwise, everything else seems fine. I am so torn!

Hey all, I am debating how much the benefit of retaking the GRE would be for Clinical Psychology programs? I got a 161 in both verbal and quantitative - I realize this is a solid score, but obviously there is room for improvement. I have the time and the money to retake it, but at the same time I could spend this time and money on other things related to improving my application Thoughts?

I know it is wicked early for the 2013-2014 application cycle, but I was wondering if anyone could review my SOP. I developed a general template for my schools (and planning to modify the end of my essays depending on it), and would really appreciate feedback! I am trying to get my essays done before the summer starts as I will have my plate full with other commitments at that time. Obviously, if someone else is getting ready early, I am more than happy to review their SOPs in return (or their cover letters / CVs for those who are applying for RA positions). Many thanks!

Has anyone heard about predoctoral fellowships, and whether it would make sense to apply to them while applying to graduate school? Or do people generally apply their 1st year in graduate school? I am applying for 2014 and I thought it might make sense to start researching some fellowships to make my application more competitive if that is an option.

Can anyone post examples of ways to contact professors? One of my friends said she read at least one article by each professor, and then emailed them about it - she said it worked out great for her (She got accepted to 9/10 schools she applied to - although this was in sociology). But this idea really intimates me and I honestly don't know where to get started.

If anyone else wants to exchange CVs to review, that would be really helpful. I am not applying until next year but already getting a head start on my CV.

I have had 2.5 years of undergrad research experience (in the field I want to study), and will have ~ 1 year of full-time paid RA (in a closely related field to what I want to study) work. Aside from that I have one 2nd author publication, one 2nd author poster at an international conference, one 1st author presentation at a university conference, and 1st author publication under review (may be in press by the time I apply - fingers crossed!) I used to think my experience was a strength, but reading forums like this one makes me think it is average...

What about online grad school classes from a reputable program (ei - Harvard)?
