  1. I just checked myWindsor and it says "accepted final". I will be declining it as soon as they tell me how so someone else can have that spot. Also, I declined UVic, U of Calgary, and Laurier, so a spot should open up soon for someone on the waiting list.
  2. Laurier has a great MSW program. I've talked to quite a few social workers in a hospital (they all have MSW degrees) and everyone I spoke to agreed that Laurier has one of the best social work programs in Canada. It is definitely a program that is highly respected in the field. For U of T, I heard that you might get a general placement during the first year because you only need to choose a specialization at the end of first year. Wouldn't it mean that you might end up with a placement that you might not have any interest in during your first year even if you are to attend U of T?
  3. Just curious, how did you find out that there were 1000 applicants?
  4. Make sure you have 2 academic and 1 work/volunteer references. You will probably get one academic reference from your thesis supervisor. For the other academic reference, I suggest that you do an independent study with another professor. That way, he/she can get to know you and your work. I also did an undergraduate honours degree in psychology.
  5. It is not in the email. You have to click on the link that they gave you and log in to see the deadline as well as other information about your acceptance (e.g. funding).
  6. Thanks! My GPA is an A during the last two years of study. I have ~7 years of volunteer experience and ~2 years of work experience in a hospital (Part-time). 1 publication
  7. I just got accepted into the 2-year MSW program at University of Calgary via email. The area of specialization that I chose was Clinical Social Work Practice. The offer of admission letter attached to the email was dated March 14, 2013.
  8. Thanks for the information Do you think I can still do a thesis even though I didn't write it in my personal statement?
  9. Hi Thumper86, Do you know how many people do a thesis each year at Wilfrid Laurier? Did you state in your application that you wanted to do a thesis or did you apply after you got accepted? What do you think about the thesis course so far? I'm really curious about the thesis course. I went to the information sessions of some schools but they didn't really talk about the thesis option.
  10. Thanks for the advice The deadline is April 8 so I hope I hear something from U of T by then. I got my offer of admission yesterday night via email.
  11. Does anyone know if it is possible to accept an offer now and decline it later? I received an email saying that I have been accepted to the 2 year MSW program at UVic. However, I really want to get into U of T but I probably won't know if I get in or not for another month or two (or maybe even longer). The email didn't give me a deadline to accept the offer, so I'm not sure what to do. Can I accept the offer and then decline it if I get into U of T?
