  1. Same here-- at 11:04pm! Had my interview last Friday. Goodluck to those still waiting! Check your emails!
  2. FYI to all those waiting: I had a message on my application status that it is taking longer to review the 150 interviewed applicants than expected and the dean hopes to post decisions by this Friday.
  3. I just found out today I was accepted to UCONN after having a complete application December 7.. if anyone else is waiting it out they should be making decisions now!
  4. Congrats! You said you applied regular deadline, but did you apply advanced standing or for the 2 year program?
  5. Congrats! about time you heard back! let me know what you decide!
  6. haven't heard anything.. not expecting to until the first bout of interviews are done (which is tomorrow night).. am assuming we will hear next week! good luck to all
  7. Also-- within a week of emailing them to ask if it was complete, I found out I was accepted.
  8. They were so slow to make my application complete! (I applied in September.. and my application wasn't complete until December 18) I called and emailed to ensure it was complete, and the GSS admissions secretary responded to my email in a few days to tell me it was complete. I would recommend emailing them to see if you're all complete so your nerves don't get the best of you! goodluck
  9. They emailed the official letter, and also sent a letter in the mail a week or so later.
  10. all my info is in.. they must've forgotten to send me the info.. i logged in and i'm all complete.. now for the waiting game! good luck to all
  11. I feel a LITTLE better.. logged into the online general grad school application and it says they received my official transcripts on the date USPS said they were delivered.. now for the SSW!
  12. Haha no worries! Just kinda have my heart set on PSU (even though they tell us so late and I would make a cross country move). I emailed admissions and the one lady listed under FAQs who you are supposed to notify if there is any change of info on the application.. hopefully they get back to me soon! Perhaps they received more applications than normal or something! Just nervous because you got the confirmation email so quickly... but I did the same thing as you with the two envelopes so hopefully they got there and they're just behind! Their application system seems so behind the times as it's all paper applications, but oh well!
  13. Thanks for the info.. I know everything on the check list was in one envelope (including my transcripts and letters of rec) and then the graduate application in a separate envelope.. I am emailing them now just to check in... you just made me VERY nervous! Did you apply advanced standing or regular? Maybe that could be the difference?
  14. No I only know my application got there because I sent it with a confirmation from the US Postal Service.. and it was delivered January 15.. They say not to call but maybe I should?
  15. I am applying to PSU and am from CT.. so very nervous about my chances of getting in. It is my #1 choice right now, because of their trimester schedule (not many east coast schools have that), as well as the opportunity for the school certification.. Also, I love Portland and would like to make the big move. I already got into and deposited at NYU, which is where I will go if I don't get into PSU or UW-Seattle, but the wait stinks! It would be a big move and in fairly short notice if I get in. I hear we won't know until April? I sent in my application and got a delivery notification via USPS on January 15, but have not received the email they received it yet.. should I be concerned?
  16. fingers crossed Connecticut to Seattle or Portland, OR..
  17. As far as I know for NYU, you have to deposit.. I heard back in September and am waiting on about 5 other schools, but deposited to NYU just to keep my spot.. it is a good school and so, so pretty! (not sure if you're familiar with Washington Square park) I also have a friend who graduated from NYU and said the professors are heavily clinical professional SW's (which is my concentration) so it's a great school for clinical. Hope that helps!
  18. for NYU, put in my application in september and heard back 10 days later.. they email you your admission status is ready, and then you log into your account and view you admission decision letter.. mine had an academic scholarship listed in the acceptance. there are a ton of other people in other threads who already heard, too.. usually 2-4 weeks within submitting and it being complete it seems! i did not apply to columbia. goodluck!
  19. They must have a thing about 7:12pm because that's when I heard a few weeks ago! Congratulations! and good luck with your decision!
  20. That was me! I had emailed Hunter prior to receiving the interview invitation, and they said they started reviewing all applications February 1, and everyone should know 4-6 weeks after that. Also, the interview is mandatory before being accepted, but after you interview, your admission notification will be available on your application in 2 weeks.
  21. I spent a summer in Tanzania and Zanzibar working with HIV+ women and children, which ended up being my senior research and thesis topic for my Social Sciences degree (The Effect of Education on the Stigmatization of HIV+ Individuals in Rural Tanzania).. I have been out of school for two years, both of which I have been working for AmeriCorps (a government funded volunteer program where we are paid "living stipends" equivalent to the poverty line of the places you work). The first year, I traveled around the midwest performing service projects from building houses to tutoring children, to working with disabled individuals. The second year (this year) I have been working in an inner-city school in CT providing wrap around services to underprivileged children, making sure their social/emotional needs are met, and trying to find a way to increase parent engagement. It has been tough, but great! I think there are many great experiences in undergrad careers, as well as volunteering, that are just as impressive to admissions committees as paid work. So good luck to all, and what a great field with so many interested future social workers!
  22. I'm sure they're starting to really get the review process going! Some people said they're application page says "pending interview" and mine doesn't, yet I got the interview invite, so it may not even be on your page! The wait sucks, but I'm sure you will hear soon!
  23. signed up for Friday @ 1:30! good luck to all
  24. I got an email last Friday that i am invited to the group interview.. they only invite those they are considering and it's mandatory to interview before being admitted.. there are 8 different times next week they asked us to sign up for.. it may be on another thread but i know three other people got the same email and are attending group interviews next week.. so hopefully sooner than later! I applied in September. good luck
  25. awesome. goodluck to you, too!
