Kwonberry don't be scared! My UCLA interview was actually just been the professor asking like 1-3 easy questions (how do you think your work will change in la? tell me about this body of work, What other schools did you apply to? What do you shoot with? Do you have any questions?) and it was more of a nice conversation. Definitely not trying to 'gotcha' me or anything. I was also kind of light hearted (told them i was nervous, towards the end told them i was in the supply closet at work, etc) and it seemed to go well so! Goodluck!!

Woah! Out of the blue phone call from UCLA. Quick 15/20 minute phone interview it was casual and not stressful and a really nice conversation!

which program did you apply for? Hoffberger started interviews last week (in person and skype) but Mt. Royal interview requests started going out very recently. Some programs don't interview at all! Edit: A friend in Hoffberger told me they were in the process of interviewing and fairly far in, but I don't remember what day that was. It was about a week ago.

No, I just had a lot of friends who had her before she built the grad program and have met her a few times. From what I've heard Jaime is great as a teacher and as a person.

Are you interviewing for Illustration? If you interview with Whitney Sherman, she's super nice. Really really cool lady and really sticks her neck out for her students. The new Illustration grad studios are gorgeous.

@dimensionsvariable from what I understand from my friends who are grad students at mica, timing and whether they interview varies from department to department. I am pretty sure that painting has met for student review or is doing it soon - Photo doesn't interview, Curatorial Practice only interviews (via phone with the director usually) if they have questions, 90% sure Mt Royal doesn't do Interviews, and Hoffberger definitely interviews. I can ask if Rhinehart interviews for you! A friend of mine just recently graduated from there. This is all word of mouth though so, I could be wrong.

I hosted undergrad students that were top scholarship finalists, and the nicest things were either covering my portion of a meal out or getting me a coffee - things like that. Wine or a small package of good coffee grounds (maybe from a good shop where you are from) works well too!
