I vote "no" for listing your GRE scores on your resumé for job applications. They are irrelevant to your ability to do the job, unless the job description includes taking standardized tests.

Sad day. : (

I'm going to take a break from my computer and read Game of Thrones. I highly recommend that you all do the same (your own book of choice).

I'm on Barro Colorado Island with STRI.

1. Reading papers and integrating the main points into my thesis introduction chapters. 2. Field work in Panama (still here). 3. Save up the money for when my BF graduates UG so he can use all of his earnings to pay off his loans instead of worrying about rent.

Mkay. Distraction game. 1. What are you currently doing? 2. What did you do this weekend? 3. What would you do if you won the GRF?

Michigan State University (MSU) 2014

MSU also has its own housing portal where you can look for only students and staff at MSU. -
I assume (and I'm guessing many other users assume this as well) that any reference of Ivy League is for the standard eight institutions: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth (which is not "virtually unknown"), Harvard, Princeton, Pennsylvania, and Yale. It is typically noted in a comment if someone is referring to a school like MIT or Stanford as an Ivy that the school is more Ivy-like, since it doesn't fit into the standard definition.

Strong Argument vs Complete Essay
Monochrome Spring replied to alwayshungry88's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
I think that it is equally important to complete the essay and write a strong essay. In graduate school, you will be expected to develop a strong argument and complete the entire assignment given. If you find yourself running out of time now, then you need to practice writing these timed essays so that you have enough time when the test comes around. Learn to time each section and pace yourself so that you don't run out of time. Other test takers are able to complete both tasks you listed in the allotted time, and they are the ones who get the high scores. I'm not the computer, and therefore can't tell you whether you'll be docked more for a bad argument or for not completing the entire essay. And I don't think you should be going about it that way either. You should be looking to improve upon whatever your problem with the essay is, so that you can complete both tasks in the time allotted. Also, I don't think you should be throwing in key words just for a higher score either. The words that will be important for grading this essay (which really is just a 5-paragraph simple essay we all should have mastered before high school) are like transition words, connecting words, and words that demonstrate that you are taking a strong stance. You should be using these words already in your essays, so don't worry about throwing out more. Also, although length is important for the sake of getting many points in and elaborating on them, length alone is not the most important factor. I think that each of my 5 paragraphs for the 2 essays were about 3-4 sentences each, which isn't very "long" compared to what they could be. Focus on discussing about as many points as possible. Elaborate on these points. Discuss why they address the prompt. And make sure that your writing is concise. That is more important than arbitrary length. http://magoosh.com/gre/2012/awa-time-saving-tips/ Magoosh has some good tips on their blog about the AWA section. And although they say to keep the introduction and conclusion short, try for 2-3 sentences. Adding 1-2 more sentences to what you already have shouldn't be too hard. -
1. There is a fixed format that you must follow. You can see this, as has been stated above, on the Powerprep software. You also will not be able to use shortcuts like cmd+u for underlining or cmd+c for copy. 2. I wouldn't worry about trying to prepare for all of the topics. You should be able to formulate a strong essay without that kind of over-preparation. Read through the high-scoring essays on the GRE website and see what they did, and think of how you can implement that in your own writing. Read through the newspaper to see how arguments for more "mundane" issues are presented. I also recommend that you use Magoosh if you want to improve your Verbal or Quantitative sections, though it doesn't help as much with the Writing section.

Maybe you should conquer whatever makes you uncomfortable about traveling alone, if possible. Traveling alone can be very rewarding. If you can't, see if any of your friends are interested in traveling with you, at least part of the way. I'm sure there is someone who would travel with you, if you ask around enough. Even look at an adventure/traveling club in your area.

Tips for taking the GRE Biology Subject test?
Monochrome Spring replied to BattlePope's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
I had detailed questions about clades on my exam. Continue to read through the Campbell-Reese and hope that you can absorb enough information by the time the test comes. You should got gotten a practice test in the mail. Work through it and make sure to understand the answers to all of the questions. I had a bunch of questions repeated on my actual exam from the practice one. It's free points, and you don't want to kick yourself later for not taking a few hours to go through a free resource like that. -
Strong Argument vs Complete Essay

Both are important and the graders will expect you to have both for a high score -
List the amounts. I also try to separate "Research Support", which might include travel funds, and "Fellowships and Scholarships", which would be solely for living expenses (things like competitive grad fellowship fellowships with stipend).
