Yup - it was more of them asking a few pointed questions they needed answers to than an interview. The person I spoke with said that the admissions committee was "in the middle of making decisions" and that I should hear "really soon." so that was helpful, haha.

word. it would be cool if any of the ten schools i applied to made some moves.

Doesn't seem like UNC has sent out too many - only one on this forum. I talked to them on Monday and they said they were finalizing decisions.

ha i logged onto a site and my heart dropped when i saw the word "Congratulations" but then I realized that I was only receiving applause for having submitted my app. THANKS FOR NOTHING APPLYOURSELF

when does MIT tend to come out? couple of weeks? I never knew time could crawl by so slowly...

Graduated last May...tried out the whole working world thing for about one second and decided to apply.

A few things: 1) Professors working on subject matter that interests you 2)Research philosophy - quant heavy? qualitative? what are your skills? 3) location, atmosphere, etc, depending on how important all of this is to you But I guess I tried not to apply too narrowly based on research interests because I am positive they will change and evolve based on my coursework and mentors. Generally I'm trying to go to the absolute best program I can get into and trying to not limit myself too much.

I have worked at a soul-sucking and meaningless 9-5 for only seven months right now and I would trade it in a heartbeat to teach and research a topic I love, even at a community college.
