  1. Haven't checked that one out yet...
  2. Just my opinion here, but employing the term "soft" may be a contextual synonym of "well down" - otherwsie they would have used a less ambigious word. If the opposite were true, I think they would have said "top of" or "high on" or just "on" the waitlist. Go to "change your profile" and alter your "signature"
  3. Great counterpoint! Also, much more likely to die of a volcano there, than at FSU. MackinCheese - I saw that, and... <gulp> if it's true, then here it comes! What I consider the school with the best faculty to me fit, on the line...
  4. Today, let's discuss "danger schools". Let's see... anything too close to a beach, or a famous bar district such as New Orleans or Memphis. By that count UCSD must really be a danger school, with beaches and the Lamp Light District. Also, any location that just happens to be inhabited by a psycho-ex. Or how about programs in which students consistently graduate a two years later than their peers at other institutions? We could factor in natural phenomena; for instance, you are much more likely to die of a hurricane at UNC - Chapel Hill than at Minnesota. Or the psuedo-natural; I hear that your dog is more likely to be swallowed by a python at FSU than at University of Washington. Any other "danger schools" we should be wary of?
  5. Second rejection. Seven "chances" left.

THANK YOU! Hoping the best for you as well.

  6. On the <anoymous> results pages, we have a segment of our population tilting at windmills when they receive a rejection, and another segment blowing off acceptances as coming from a "safety school". The forum discussion is quite moderate, those extremes considered. Sensing a bell curve distribution...
  7. That's exactly what I'm counting on; as are many of us, I suspect. But why <oh why?> can't the one acceptance be the first thing you get!?!?!?
  8. Second rejection a la WUSTL delivered up in a steamy email with an attached letter of "not this year". Sounds like if I haven't heard from Vandy for an interview yet, then that's a goner. Doesn't take much for me to rule out a couple other schools. Starting to get that sinking feeling.
  9. Yep. I'll add to the chorus by saying that the time from being done with aps (beginning of Dec) to the third week of Jan was a sinch. Then while casually inspecting the results search, I saw interviews going out in my field and now... for two weeks... I have been OCD about obtaining information. Nothing big, just curious about THE FUTURE OF THE REST OF MY DAMN LIFE... that's all. There are a few of us out there who are a little bit concerned...
  10. I believe it was noted in the spreadsheet that the Columbia data included MA data - probably throws things off a bit.
  11. Drought + Fuel + Fire Thanks for sharing!
  12. Time to nominate Michelle as our official Chairperson of Positivity & Mascot of Smiles! Not certain if this is meant to ease the suffering, or end the suffering?
  13. I'm starting to question the integrity of the results search. In previous pages, several people mentioned issues; but honestly, I can understand if someone trashes a school they didn't get into, even if its not very professional, these are emotional times for us all. But what really does worry me in when someone double posts a rejection with the same information (a U of Chicago rejection) and in that double post puts in a YouTube link saying something along the lines of "get a sweet job here after you move on from your silly dream". Whoever posted this, please explain yourself, maybe I took you the wrong way... but otherwise I'm slapping those with spam reports pretty soon.
  14. Precisely what I have been wondering!
  15. Damn it! Like I need more things to be OCD about right now...
  16. First rejection. Oh well, my doctor told me to eat less cheese anyway.

  17. Damn! Type "political science" in the results search, and your screen will bleed cheese!! That's the first time I've seen a half-page hammering go out at once.
  18. The ding my ipad makes when a new email arrives is nothing less than a demonstration that Pavlov was right, and that I'm a dog.
  19. Grats on Chicago! Looks like WUStL admits are going out today. Three posted in the last hour.
  20. Grats to the recent admits! If things do track with last year's admissions announcements: WUSTL will be substantially finished announcing by Friday; Michigan will announce Thursday; and Chicago will announce next Tuesday. In keeping with the theme, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt and Northwestern would all announce next week. If the programs really did track with last year, Wisconsin would have already announced. My personal prediciton: Wisconsin, Michigan, WUStL and Vanderbilt by the end of this week. Chicago, Minnesota, Notre Dame and Northwestern by the end of next week.
  21. Here's this community of supportive individuals all suffering the same doubts and indignations that I am; just what I need! If I have established this elaborate community in my mind... then I probably would have inserted a thread called something like... "is anyone else losing their damn mind?"... so that I could rationalize my insanity. Just saying... if I've gone off the deep end... why not make myself some company?
  22. I may be replying to a post by one of them right now... not certain, because I have beeng losing my damn mind!!
  23. Well put. It would save many panic attacks if programs announced admissions in order from least difficult to get into, to most difficult to get into.
  24. Any reasoning behind this guess? This is pretty much my first pick, so of course I'm dying to know and haven't received word from any program yet. I can only speak for the schools I've been tracking, but last year Wisconsin and WashU StL, as well as Michigan, were out by now.
  25. I feel for you both. Add me to the list of haven't-heard-a-thing-from-any-programs-persons. I think I'm starting to see imaginary things...
