  1. Pretty sure it means you have been accepted, and they're just finalizing your offer of admission. Don't take what I say for truth though.
  2. That really frustrates me. But at least we now know something at least... Thanks for the info!!
  3. Anyone hear anything back from Ryerson or York yet? (1 yr MSW). I know York always takes their sweet time, but just wondering about Ryerson as well...
  4. Yeah I live in Peterborough, so that's about close to two hours away from Toronto. So, hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow or on Monday. Thanks for the info! Hopefully if I get good news, I'll see you on campus! ***Got the mail; Waitlisted.
  5. Congrats MSW13!! I still haven't heard anything from U of T yet, but I don't live in the area (mailing issue?). My profile still says "under review", so hopefully that doesn't mean I have been waitlisted or denied... Anyways, congrats!!!
  6. I don't understand why all universities don't follow Carleton's method of delivering acceptances/declines/waitlists. Email is a lot more practical and this waiting game is adding to my stress level each and every day I don't hear anything back....
  7. Hi Jenste, I've only just recently graduated with my BSW, but I've been working in the social services field for over 5 years now. So in that regard, if you have a BSW, you usually have a good chance of getting work. MSW's become more common usually in bigger cities. I got a job with CAS right out of university on a temporary contract. So, it's just knowing what jobs are out there and what is offered. I hope this was helpful... Right now, I'm working at CMHA as a "relief" crisis worker, so the pay is decent but not as good as say CAS or being a case manager within CMHA. All depends on what your passion lies within social work. MSW's are usually a must in schools, hospitals, and private practice (Counselling). Also, it really depends on how the job market is in your community. In January, Peterborough (where I am) was 2nd highest in Canada for unemployment; it hasn't gotten any better either....
  8. I applied to the advanced standing at U of T as well and I did not receive anything. I'm sure everyone will know soon enough. I'm stressing really bad right now, but I can't really let myself be affected by it. Especially when I'm trying to find stable work in the Peterborough area that is in my field! Sending good vibes all around!
  9. See, I got an email saying that I was waitlisted but my account still states "Review in Progress by Department", so I don't know what's going on. I'm assuming that I'm still waitlisted, but I can hope can't I?
  10. To my knowledge, it means you got in, and they're finalizing your offer of admission.
  11. Seems like Carleton is pretty competitive, but the whole MSW application process is competitive in itself. I just loved Ottawa and really enjoyed my experience at Carleton (BSW). I wish good luck to everyone, and hope to potentially see some of you on campus this fall! P.S. To those who have applied to MSW programs before, how long does it usually take to hear back from U of T, Ryerson, and York? Carleton seemed to have responded quite quickly. Thanks!
  12. Thanks for the kind words. Good luck to you as well!
  13. Well I was just wait listed from Carleton for the 1 yr program. Which sucks because I really wanted to get in. What made me feel a little worse was the email that stated in 2012, they weren't able to use the wait list. Still waiting on York U, U of T, and Ryerson. All 1 yr MSW. not feeling that confident though...
  14. I've applied to four schools. My first choice is Carleton though. I applied to all advanced standing programs at Carleton, U of T, Ryerson, and York. The process was really tedious with York U... I've been working in the social services field for about 4-5 years (part time during school/full time during summer months); currently at CAS. Got a CYW diploma, B.A. in sociology, and BSW....hopefully I get in...I've worked way too hard and have too much debt!! Grades were in the mid B range until Carleton which I pulled my GPA up to A-. When do you usually find out????
