I've only just recently graduated with my BSW, but I've been working in the social services field for over 5 years now. So in that regard, if you have a BSW, you usually have a good chance of getting work. MSW's become more common usually in bigger cities. I got a job with CAS right out of university on a temporary contract. So, it's just knowing what jobs are out there and what is offered.

Right now, I'm working at CMHA as a "relief" crisis worker, so the pay is decent but not as good as say CAS or being a case manager within CMHA. All depends on what your passion lies within social work. MSW's are usually a must in schools, hospitals, and private practice (Counselling). Also, it really depends on how the job market is in your community. In January, Peterborough (where I am) was 2nd highest in Canada for unemployment; it hasn't gotten any better either....
