  1. I'm also considering accepting an offer at DU, so this is good news. I have been looking through the Capitol Hill, Highlands, Washington Park, and Congress Park neighborhoods. Any thoughts on the others, as Capitol Hill seems to come recommended!
  2. Thanks spivak_khayesh! I contacted them, and he let me know they don't have a ranked wait list. I'm not sure what that means. Are you familiar with this? How will they likely make their decisions from the April 15th deadline?
  3. So, I emailed the program coordinator at JHU and received this response: "Thank you for their inquiry, but our wait list is not ranked and we are obliged to give those to whom we have made offers until April 15. We will be in touch with you as soon as we can make a more definite announcement. Thank you for your patience and understanding." Is anyone familiar with an unranked wait list or how that procedure works?
  4. I'm on the waitlist at Johns Hopkins for a PhD, which is my top choice. But I have a 90% fully funded offer from UDenver for their MA program. I'd go to Johns Hopkins if I got in, in a heartbeat. What's the proper procedure for calling the dept to find out where you stand on the waitlst? I don't want to delay the folks at DU who have asked me to let them know asap if I will accept, but I don't know where I am or how many are on the waitlist at JHU. Any advice?
  5. I was in the same spot you are in last year, but I went ahead and applied to both MA and PHD programs. I naturally was rejected from a number of PHD programs, but surprisingly got an interview and wait-listed at my top school, Johns Hopkins with a cGPA of 3.26 and a dept GPA of 3.66 at UT Austin and mediocre GRE scores. I also got into my top choice MA with a full (90%) funding offer. So, if you're worried you won't into a PHD program because YOU don't think you're qualified, then that's not the way to go. My advice is to let the program decide if they think you're ready. You might surprise yourself.
  6. I was accepted to U Denver as well with a nice funding package (unofficially of course)! I was waitlisted at Johns Hopkins, so I'm not feeling particularly confident about getting off. I think I'm going to accept DU's offer. Any thoughts out there? Would it be imprudent or impolite to call JHU and ask about my status on the wait list since I do have an offer from elsewhere?
  7. Me too, though it was expected. I'm just glad they emailed instead of leaving it up to checking the online portal incessantly.
  8. My thesis adviser and I have spoken quite a bit about their admission process (I'm finishing my undergrad at UT Austin right now) and she said the same thing. They have made offers to their first round of applicants.
  9. Thank you both! I'll keep you posted on what, if anything, I hear back! Best of luck to you!
  10. Also, what is considered the proper etiquette on contacting a department about results?
  11. Any word from Northwestern? I saw a post about possibly hearing this week, but no word on the results board.
  12. I'm also on the waitlist after interviewing, and the email they sent out made it sound like they've sent out all their acceptance/waitlist notifications.
  13. So, am I to take it that Northwestern didn't do interviews if they are notifying next week? Granted I haven't read through the entire thread, but I don't recall anyone mentioning an interview.
  14. I'm in my last semester at UT Austin working on my senior honors thesis with a faculty adviser. I talk to her about my grad school applications regularly. In passing, she mentioned 2 Fridays ago that they were sitting down last week to make final decisions over applicants. I don't know any more than that, but I hope that gives you some sort of idea as to when to expect info.
