UCLA. UCLA. UCLA.

Have any other Michigan admits received instructions to book their travel for Campus Visit yet?
-
To answer your initial question, yes, you are being too much of an elitist. As others have said, NU is a well-respected institution and a degree from there would be silly turn to down. I'm pretty sure Chicago is done sending out their acceptances, so you're pretty much just waiting on UNC. Should you not be admitted to UNC, accept the NU offer and run with it.

According to a friend from IU, it seems that they've made their decisions.
-
I haven't either, which I presume to be a rejection. I'm a little surprised considering I had some good conversations with my POI there and felt pretty confident on my chances. Not to mention my fit with the program was stellar. Just goes to show how unpredictable this whole process is. In any case, congrats to all the UCSD admits.
-
Congrats on UCSD! Was it your POI or the DGS who contacted you?
-
Not yet. They should sometime this week, I believe.
-
Congrats on Indiana. I received my MA from there last year. Amazing, supportive department, and Bloomington is awesome.
-
Nope, I haven't. It seems that a couple of the posted notifications are people with prior connections to UCLA. I imagine the adcom is finalizing the funding offers before they officially notify admits.

You should consider applying to Indiana University's MA program in Russian/East European program next cycle should you not gain admittance to Yale. It's a great program (I got my MA there), and offer a plethora of East European languages.

I've given up on UCLA, which is disappointing because it was my dream school and top choice. It's weird how this whole process works though. I thought I had a good chance of getting accepted there based on my interests. Instead, I was fortunate and surprised by being admitted to Michigan, where I never even imagined I had a chance at. I suppose at the end we'll all end up exactly where we're supposed to.
-
Well that's good to know. Congrats on your acceptance!
-
I echo that first sentiment. I'm pretty sure they give $8,000 per semester. That's more than enough for an area like Urbana and Champaign.
-
Same. I've written off UC-Santa Barbara and UT-Austin as well. I'm not sure what to make of Illinois yet though.
-
I'm surprised Chicago and Columbia haven't sent out notifications yet. Last I heard, Chicago already made their shortlist.
-
Congrats to you as well! Thanks everyone! I'm in total disbelief right now.
-
Holy shit. I just got into Michigan!!!!!
-
Nahhhhh, I just got my first rejection from UC-Irvine.
-
Oh, she's the Graduate Student Affairs Coordinator. I thought you meant the DGS.
-
Gotcha. Who is the grad advisor there anyways? Based on previous years, it looks like we won't hear from them until mid-February.
-
Yeah I applied there as well. What do you mean you didn't find them to be "too friendly?"
-
@wluhopeful I hope so! Illinois is one of my top choices so I'll be pretty bummed if I don't get good news. Good luck!
-
@wluhopeful Modern U.S. history; focusing on relational race and ethnicity, and Latina/o history. You?
-
Anyone else here apply to Illinois?
-
Wow, a Michigan acceptance already. Congrats to the admit.
