  1. http://www.geoscienceworld.org/site/mobile/index.xhtml A great spot to search multiple journals

  3. And the Oklahoma State rejection came in today, good thing I got the balls up to apply for UT, I ended up getting into my "long shot" and getting denied from other schools that I thought I had a far better chance.
  4. I finally got the A&M rejection letter. It was dated June 04
  5. I have spoken with three professors there (Grammar, Puckette, Pashin) and visited on my own. I like what opportunities they have and it seems their students get hired on at companies such as Devon energy.
  6. Yeah, salt tectonics are a major control on oil and gas traps and such. It sounds like I you want to go into the petroleum industry LSU would be the place to be.
  7. Yep, you definitely can't go wrong with structure. It is applicable in all geological arenas.
  8. I think LSU is a great spot for petroleum.
  9. How did you like it? It was my first ACE. I also went to the GSA. Geologist are really good at drinking.
  10. I would say the most important part of the process at a place like CSM or UT is connecting with the potential advisor since they are the ones plucking your name out of the massive pile of applicants.
  11. Oh noooooo I guess no one was going!!!

  13. It's in Houston next week, April 6-9th Who is going?
  14. I applied to places that were proved to be a good fit. The state has diverse geology and the university is in somewhat close proximity to the Bakken shale play and strongly field oriented. When I met with a professor, I decided the university could offer me what I needed from a school and applied. Those ratings are nice but by no means are they the be all end all. The most important thing for me had been my connection with the potential professors and what my likely thesis would entail.
  15. I know someone that was accepted to mines that was asked to make their decision yesterday. Perhaps there will be another round of offers shortly after they figure out who is accepting elsewhere?
  16. For what it's worth, I received an acceptance email from the CSU graduate school last night. "Your official Notice of Graduate Admission (GS2A form) will be mailed to you directly and will list any conditions for admission, if applicable. If you require additional information, please contact the academic department in which you intend to study."
  17. Congrats! It is a wonderful feeling to be able to plan for the Fall!
  18. Unreal location, I spent one night there after field camp. It is places like Yellowstone that made me apply to the montane schools.
  19. Field camp was the best experience of my geology education. It is where you put it all together.
  20. I think geographyrocks is right, I did more networking at UT and the funds were there to support me. In my case I am getting the best responses from schools that I have personally visited.
  21. I just knew the timeframe from submission of recomendation for admission of POI and grad committee to "my status" site being updated, I didn't have an interview.
