I sent an email, and she said they don't have to be the slideroom images, so i didn't want to keep pushing her like "yeah, but you didn't REALLY answer the question". But from my understanding, its 10 in total, to your discretion on how many of those are new or not.
If it was 10 plus new images, then some might bring 20 in total or more without a real cap as to how many.
Hey fellow freak-out'ers
Of those who are interviewing for Hunter next week, how many of the 10 images do you intend to use for the work you made after you applied?
I knew when I applied that I would have to print out images, but I expected them to be the slide room images. So I was surprised when I got the email about new work
Is anyone taking a break from making new work while they wait?
Congrats to everyone who has received acceptances and notifications for interviews. For those of us who have received rejections and are waiting for some good news,
have you taken a break from working?
In light of the rejections,
are you thinking about retooling your work, or drastically taking a new approach once the do get back to art making?
@Pulsar From what I have seens, schools tend to follow the same timeline in their admissions process, with some slight variations. I often check the "Search Results" bar to compare the dates and see what the through line is.
Often, you see rejections from people who had interviews, so their dates are a little later.
P.S. I contacted VCU and they said that the incomplete status is due to a glitch in the system and that I am fine. I asked for a timeline on info regarding interviews, but i doubt she will be able to get back to me before next week, being that its after 5pm on a Friday
I will pass on any information she gives me
Hey,
Does anyone who applied to VCU see a notice in their application that the application is incomplete? I distinctly remember uploading the file that they say is missing and i dont understand how I would have been able to submit the application without it being complete (even though they send you the link to submit your images after you submit the application)
Thanks
I agree with you about the importance of interviews thepicureisstill, but demanding your you interview in person or demanding that you ship your entire portfolio could cause someone to lose out because of their lack of money.
I wanted to point out how really small things can hold back large portions of society. The first time I applied for schools, I used a gofundme account, I was lucky enough to have people donate their frequent flier miles, and purchase art work solely to get me to interviews. It's just the small things that can really be hard without $
Though I am still waiting for notifications on whether I will be asked to interview, I have been debating whether or not I will travel for the interview or use Skype. I sometimes wonder if the interview process can be a an issue of entitlement. There seems to be this idea that "if you want it you will find a way" but the expenses involved in the application process can be exorbitant for some.
If the schools lean towards those that can come in person, it seems it's another way that privilege can trump the work. (I remember in undergrad that people that could afford weren't nearly as talented as those on scholarship. Yet, a student on scholarship technically flunks out if they dipped below a B average, because they lose the scholarship and the ability to pay for school.
I really am thinking that considering one's financial position should be deemed prudent rather than frowned upon. Should you get in you still have to pay a tuition deposit out of pocket. And then comes debt. OK this is now a rant lol
Is anyone else waiting forever for people to upload their letters of recommendation? I hate the idea of something that small to keep me out of a school
