  1. Why do you say obviously? All three of those institutions admit students from evangelical seminaries with some regularity - especially Harvard and Duke. I would remind you of Stephen Neill's excellent advice, "What matters is not so much the particular views that any scholar holds as the validity of the methods which he uses, and the integrity of his devotion to them." - The Interpretation of the New Testament, 1861-1986. Your comments, on the other hand, suggest that you might indeed have "some weird psychological problem." Namely elitism.
  2. Still waiting on two wait lists here, looks like I won't know where I'm gonna end up for another month or so. Little did I know this fall that the process would drag on into April...
  3. Yale admits 12, for an expected incoming class of 9-10.
  4. Brown admits came out a couple of weeks ago. If you haven't heard, you're very unlikely to receive an invite.
  5. Neither Harvard University nor HDS will accept any changes to applications after they are submitted. They are very strict about this. Next year.
  6. I was under the impression that the committee was meeting today, not necessarily that decisions would be released.
  7. Rumor is yes, and that they got two admits this year.
  8. Religious Studies. The divinity school does not confer doctorates.
  9. For those keeping score at home, Yale will announce tomorrow.
  10. To be clear, you are claiming all decisions are made for the School of Theology, correct? Not the GDRS?
  11. Some schools interview, some do not, and even within institutions there are differences in which tracks interview, and who each track decides to interview (internal applicants are less likely to get an interview at some schools, for instance, because the committee already knows them). So as to say: it doesn't necessarily mean anything. Depends on the institution.
  12. This is indeed true. No wait-list, and the offer has long since landed. So if you haven't heard back from UNC yet for Ancient Med, bad news...
  13. Many (likely all) of the interview invites went out a couple of weeks ago.
  14. The way it works at Yale is classes taken abroad are counted as credit only - they do not affect your GPA or requirements. So basically you have to spend your first two years doing all your requirements, and then take your credits from abroad as electives. It's easier for an MAR, but MDivs do it regularly. And nope - you pay your YDS tuition and that covers it. Some exchange programs offer generous stipends, on top of it all.
  15. YDS routinely hosts exchange students from other seminaries and divinity schools in the US - its definitely an option there. This happens all the time. You miss your graduation usually because of differences in academic schedule, but students quite routinely spend their final year as a YDS student abroad.
  16. Same, though perhaps they don't update all of the applications at the same time? I'm holding out hope.
  17. You would be in good company at YDS, where many students come from top tier secular institutions, but just as many come from small, conservative (or even fundamentalist) institutions. YDS has it's share of Harvard/Yale/Princeton undergrads, and also its share of Moody/Liberty/Covenant students. Go ahead and apply - your undergrad institution will not be held against you whatsoever.
  18. Any idea what the interview process is at ND for overseas applicants?
  19. I don't think this will go over well at all. I think it would be very difficult to convince a department head that they had made a mistake in not offering you an interview without seeming a) pompous and b ) out of touch with the realities of the admissions process, which already offers interviews to candidates that are less than perfect fits for the department, just in case. If this is your second year applying to the same department, you have given it your best shot, and it is unlikely that they are going to change their mind by taking a third look at your packet.
  20. Anyone want to fess up? Maybe give us an idea what your subfield is?
