not sure what is worse - checking grad cafe and knowing people got the award (and congrats to all!) ...or hopelessly waiting for that email to come through ....sigh.... anyone hear from sociology?

My primary field is Media Study (one of those weird interdisciplines...for me, it also intersects with Cultural Study, Performance, Black Studies, American Studies, etc.)
 
I applied twice to the Predoctoral in 2010 and 2012 and received Honorable Mention both times. Had that gap year where it was too late for the Predoc and too early for the Dissertation. Then waited another year to apply for the Dissertation. My project is so much more coherent now and I felt that as I was preparing my application this time. So to everyone who hasn't received an award, definitely keep trying! It's a long process...but so is graduate school!  

I got the Pre-doctoral fellowship!

I also received an offer today at 12:45 EST for the dissertation fellowship. Good luck everyone!

so i'm on twitter and have saved the search "Fulbright" and it updates whenever there is "Fulbright" in a tweet (kinda creepy-but serves the purpose) and I saw that Chile has informed their US scholars. It drives you crazy, but at least it shows that many other people are in a similar boat of waiting, nervousness and general turmoil...but things are getting better I guess...

how's everyone holding up..i am loving all the comradery here i'd chime in on a conversation but i wouldn't know which to choose! i hope we all get to meet in d.c. somehow, at least for those with the mandatory orientation. 3/13/13 would've been a cool day to hear from fulbright but that's okay =P i was worrying every day but then realized i more than likely have weeks and weeks to wait so, just trying to chill, fill my life with alternative things to get very excited/very nervous about

This waiting business is getting REALLY old.

I got my packet from Fulbright and its Indonesian counterpart today. It is real! It had my name on it and everything.

Hahhaha. I was doing that yesterday. I'm actually trying to be productive today. I was checking on my Iphone so I just kept repeatedly dragging my finger down to refresh.. Instead of doing it every 2 seconds, I just check every 20 minutes or so..
It is quite horrible.
