  1. Received my letter in Italy yesterday (can't believe it's here but some haven't received it in Canada yet??) Successful application!! For those interested in stats: Ranked 5/64 in committee 2B. This was my second time applying and my research proposal was nearly the same. My score the first time was 2.91 and this time 4.95 (the cutoff was 4.30). And honestly, the only significant differences was that I was submitting my thesis soon and was about to take up a one-year postdoc at the time of application. I'm in history with only one peer-reviewed article in a good journal, but lots of conference papers, invited talks, and some curatorial and public engagement stuff. SSHRC-funded for MA and PhD, which I did in the UK. A bunch of additional studentships (cause UK is stupid expensive for international students) and smaller research/travel awards. I'm absolutely thrilled with my results this year, but have also learned how arbitrary this process can be... Best of luck to you all, be kind to yourselves!!
  2. Still waiting in Italy. I feel like it's going to be an eternity until it gets here. No idea why they still insist on doing this via snail mail ?
  3. I'm in a similar situation. I indicated that I was planning on attending a foreign school on my application so I was given the A award (if I decided to stay in Canada) but told I would be automatically bumped down to the doctoral fellowship if I took it abroad. I don't have any publications, and only one grad conference. I'm only starting my program in the fall though, so I'm assuming they took this into account.
  4. Got my letter with an award in the C category! This means—from what I understand—that if I want to take my award to a UK school (which is what I indicated in my application) then I get the award for the B category. But if I stayed in Canada, then I would be eligible for a CGS award. My score was 14.4/20 and it was my first time applying. I think I might be in shock right now.
  5. If sshrc really did do the mail out on Monday afternoon, I feel like those of us in nearby cities (Ottawa, Toronto, etc.) should definitely get their responses today, no???
  6. Question: Will direct applicants be notified the same time as those who applied through their departments or even later? Anyone have experience with this?
  7. I applied directly to SSHRC and just received a letter that I've been forward to Ottawa! Wooooo
  8. Just got notification in the mail today in Toronto! So happy!! Will be starting at U of T in September Good luck to everyone!
