  1. PhD student at U of T here. PM me! Happy to chat & answer any questions you might have.
  2. The SSHRC Twitter just announced that Doctoral results have been *officially* mailed... Best of luck to all!! :)
  3. Congratulations on making the decision PreciselyTerrified! & my best wishes to all applicants! I will be attending Toronto as well, but I'll be in the English department; however, I hope to take a few classes in the Philosophy department. Feel free to PM me!
  4. Congratulations to all! It's so wonderful to see all of the remarkable horizons that are opening up for the many lovely & collegial folks on this board. I’m happy to report that I will begin doctoral studies at the University of Toronto in the fall! &, of course, my best wishes to everyone still hoping for good news!
  5. Yatto and Jeenyus, Many thanks for your responses! I'm glad it has been done before. Thank you!
  6. Has anyone ever encountered an undergraduate student who has received a doctoral SSHRC? Thanks!
  7. Victorydance & Ian, I think it's really *important* to keep in mind that the application process is an incredibly onerous, demanding, and precarious time for many; hence, it is both unwarranted and insensitive to invalidate one’s frustrations with those who are unmindful of others! I’m of the opinion, to be sure, that if you DO NOT plan to attend a program, then you should immediately inform the DGS that you will not be attending. The preceding, of course, is a matter of extending grace to others. I understand, however, that the decision process is difficult, but I cannot discern why it is necessary to mobilize such an egregious sentiment about applicants on the waiting list, especially considering these applicants might be fellow colleagues in the fall.
  8. Wonderful. Thanks! Did SSHRC, by chance, specify when? & is it true that the committees have already adjudicated our applications? Many thanks!
  9. I heard back from a SSHRC officer today! As we anticipated, it makes no difference if one is admitted to a program after the submission of the application. Best of luck to all as we approach a very long April!
  10. Thanks for this note! I think this is totally right, especially considering that direct applicants are not instructed to inform SSHRC of their application results. I think it's highly unlikely that SSHRC will actually request this information; however, I figure I might as well ask, that is, given the circumstance. I will be sure to share the results!
  11. Many thanks for this message! It's very helpful. I e-mailed a SSHRC officer to inquire. Also, I totally agree with you, because I don't think it is accurate to assume that all strong applicants will be admitted to doctoral programs per se! As we know, the admissions process is strange and impossible to predict. Further, direct applicants, I think, are at a disadvantage insofar as their proposals do not, as you say, have the implicit support that applicants in programs have. Thanks for both the support and understanding, and I so hope you receive good news!
