  1. No problem... and silliness is a must, it's a spice of life. Take Care. I hope all of us in some way update on this forum as we begin our Fulbright journey.
  2. I'm so glad you got the award. Even though I already received my award notice and no longer need to come on as frequently, i come on just to see if you got an ETA Germany slot. You have been a tremendous supporter on this forum and certainly display character aligning with what a Fulbright fellow should be about. Good luck to you!
  3. Hey so i know the UK excitement is done, but not for me!!! Just had to share that i also am going to the UK!! Praise God! See you all there!
  4. To UK partnership folks: So the partnership award does not make it clear that they will pay for all our educational expenses ( Tuition + Fees). Anyone know otherwise?
  5. Hey there, i am currently in a PHD program right now and i think what is most important is mentorship. A program may have a great reputation, but to have an advisor that is well connected is also great. I know of several people who are sitting in jobs they don't like after graduating from a reputable university ( it can go either way). I see the value of moving out of a familiar city and reestablishing in a new place. I find that it is healthy character development and will be a great way to expand your network. Ultimately, pick the grad school that you can get the most research support in, i have honestly found that is what counts. Let all decisions be made around this. Peace and Pasta!
  6. UKers ... am i the only one that thinks that email was useless? But more so mean! It's not healthy for my heart to speed like that in .25 seconds!!!!! We already know they are in the decision making process!
  7. Yes i'm thinking we should hear by Friday at the very least as well. Fridays seem to trend with them thus far. The odds that we get an email tomorrow are even greater yippee!!!
  8. Every time my cell phone sounds off that i have a new e-mail my heart jumps.... since its after business hours in the UK i guess i should stop sweating it now. Or wait, the email is coming stateside right? Oh no! 90 mins of panicking! Lol
  9. Lol, seriously i want to know now too! Maybe it will give me more motivation to finish this semester strong so i can hurry up an get the the UK. As for being flustered, i'm sure that was a common factor among us all. Plus they know that we are super nervous at this time. Regarding those recommended, i don't really know the ratio, i saw someone post 1.5 to 2. So i guess it could mean that we are competing with 2 other folks. I keep on day dreaming that no one else applied to my school, so i am only competing with myself but i know that's unlikely.
  10. To the UK folks: How was your interview? Did you feel like ya nailed it!? As for me, i think mine went well, i did mock interviews with a colleague so that really helped. I just hope UK-Fulbright thinks i did well too. So they said we should hear by mid-March. I'm thinking we have exactly one week to find out...
  11. I'm here! I have been checking this forum everyday, our answers are only days away. I can only smile while day dreaming in anticipation of good news. I pray we all get the answers we so desperately desire! I can so use 9 months in the UK right now, i can't wait!
  12. Congratulations to all the people who received the news they have been dying to hear! Your life will certainly be changing from this point forward!
  13. Maybe you've already read this : The email says a similar thing but i thought it was interesting that they stressed articulation here Q: What are the telephone interviews like? A: Telephone interviews last for approximately 15 minutes. You will be introduced to the panel members present during your telephone interview at the start of the call. We have a list of questions that we pose to all short-listed candidates. Generally, the application itself is not discussed during the telephone interview, except to seek clarification if something is not clear or perhaps has not been considered. The telephone interview is an opportunity to review the articulation of the candidates. As Fulbright grantees are cultural ambassadors and leaders in their fields, they must have strong communication skills. Q: How do I prepare for the telephone interview? A: It will be helpful to have the location (of the intended institution at which you wish to study and where it is located), and course dates (e.g. begins in September, finishes in May) on hand. Again, we may ask for some clarification on your application. Otherwise, we will pose questions to you; you should answer within the best of your ability. Relax, focus, and be yourself. Q: I've done my telephone interview. What next? A: Candidates will be contacted with next steps. http://www.fulbright.org.uk/fulbright-awards/exchanges-to-the-uk/faqs/interview-faqs
  14. Yeah! Me too, i got an interview date.
  15. Does anyone know what the difference is between people doing a full grant versus study grant in the UK. I see the excel sheet says most UK folks are doing the full grant. Correct me if i am wrong, isn't the full grant the opportunity to allocate funding to any school and or do independent research ( but also most competitive)? Maybe i answered my own question?
