  1. I got into both of my top 2 schools - with a fairly generous scholarship to Marquette. I'm waiting to hear about funding from Rush (my first choice), but it is such a relief to know that I will definitely be starting graduate school in the fall. I didn't get in anywhere last year and I applied to far less competitive schools, so just in case anyone is losing hope - chin up! I'm certain that completing all my pre-req / undergraduate work at USU is what pushed me over the edge, so there is always another way to get where you want to be.
  2. I received an email from Dr. Long saying that those who were accepted will be receiving letters in the mail and those who were not / were waitlisted would be receiving emails. No email for me yet - but I just checked the results search and saw a few people listing acceptances via email. Now I don't know what to think - but I'll keep crossing my fingers!
  3. Received an invitation to complete the supplemental application at Rush as well! I'm terribly excited, as Rush is definitely my top choice. Just submitted the supplemental app - now the waiting game begins. I'm so grateful for school / crochet projects this month.
  4. Received official notification that my CSDCAS application is not only complete, but verified. Such a relief. And now the waiting game starts. Thankfully, I'll know if I made it past the initial round at my first choice in only a couple of weeks (Rush asks people that make it past the first round to complete a supplemental application). Still feels like forever, but at least it is something breaking up the 2 / 3 month wait before I'll know what my life is going to look like come August.
  5. I feel like CSDCAS is never going to finish verifying my application and send it off to Rush. I know they said they do wait a couple of weeks after the deadline to get those verifications, but we're at two weeks now and I'm still wait on CSDCAS. *headdesk*
  6. I rode this ride last year as well - it was miserable, especially when I ended up wait listed. The upside - it gave me more time to think about what I wanted and adjust my course a bit. I feel as though I am in a much stronger position now. That said, I'm incredibly grateful that I have schoolwork to distract me this time around and that classes started today. I should start hearing back in a month, so here's hoping it flies by.
  7. That would be fantastic! It's always good to connect with people before diving straight in, although I have to say - after visiting Rush, I can't imagine we'll have much time to socialize (not that I'm complaining - have you seen that hospital? I'm already ready to move in).
  8. All applications submitted! Now the waiting begins! Also the panic about CSDCAS processing transcripts. Ugh.
  9. First post for this application season - applied to schools last year, but found myself reconsidering the schools I'd chosen mid-way through. Have readjusted my focus to schools with both bilingual programs and a focus on the medical setting. I find my heart set on Rush, but I would be content at any of the schools I am applying to. In the midst of my third bachelors through USU (had a double major my first time in undergrad) and I am loving the program. I am glad to both be getting an academic background in the field and verification that I've chosen the right field. I'm putting the final touches on my applications - and having been on this roller coaster before, I can say the next three months will feel like a lifetime. At least I will have coursework to distract me this time!
  10. For anyone else who has attended USU - I'm seriously considering doing my post-bacc work there next year & applying to a different set of programs this fall. I noticed that if you are not a degree-seeking student (and I don't think I have an persuasive reason to become one), you cannot use federal student aid to pay for your USU courses. How did you guys pay for the online program?
  11. Thank you so much for chiming in - I'm feel more & more like I'm going to go with an online post-bac, regardless of what Saint Cloud says (it isn't the strongest school, even in this area, for what I want to do after completing my degree). I had no idea USU was so cheap. There's got to be another thread here about post-bacc programs, yes? *goes to look*
  12. Message notifications are at the top of the screen, right side - you'll see a little envelope. I reached out to Saint Cloud to see where I stood on their wait list. The reply I received said that they won't tell people where they are at on the wait list, which I can understand. Definitely still frustrating though, as they sent decisions out almost a month later than normal - if I had other acceptances in hand (I'm kicking myself for only applying to 2 schools now, the delay in notification would pretty much eliminate SCSU from the pool). And this year's cohort is significantly smaller than previous cohorts - they said that there were only 20 spots, when I am fairly certain there were 30 spots in the past couple years. The only results I've seen on the boards for Saint Cloud is one other wait list - is that truly it? Previous years, multiple people posted acceptances, etc. Is the other person on the wait list in this forum? I know there was someone else posting at some point that they had been invited to interview - I was wondering how that went & what response they'd received from the University. The whole situation just seems so different from previous years and it is impossible to find out what is going on, it is really leaving me wondering what is going on over there. Maybe I would be better just passing on the opportunity (even if it did come back that there was space for me), completing a post-bacc online and then expanding my application net next year.
  13. ...and the letter was waiting when I got home. Waitlisted - which is better than not getting in, but I am still a little bummed that there's still a few more weeks ahead before I can actually make any concrete plans for the rest of the year.
  14. Still nothing from Saint Cloud, which makes no sense - if the letters when out on Wednesday or Thursday, it typically takes only 24 hours to get mail from there to the Twin Cities. I was so relieved when there was no reason to stalk the mailbox yesterday, but now it's Monday...again. I feel like I've had a lot of Mondays on this forum.
  15. Nothing in the mail from Saint Cloud today. It made me glad that I didn't stalk the delivery person around the neighborhood until she got to our house, which was my first inclination. I make no promises about tomorrow, though.
  16. Just spoke with someone in the department at Saint Cloud State - she said that the letters were put in the mail either Wednesday or yesterday. Now it is all I can do not to take the rest of the day off work and go sit by the mailbox.
  17. It is reassuring to hear that SO MANY schools are behind in their admissions decisions. It makes me think back to how St. Cloud said there were "complications" this year and wonder what the heck happened? Surely not all these school went off schedule in the same manner? This is also the first year that St. Cloud had an interview day, but only one person mentioned it on the boards. I'd be interested to know if it was the same person who received a wait list notification (which is apparently the only decisions that have been sent out yet?). So frustrating - I mean, if you know who is on the wait list, then don't you at least know who isn't getting in? I thought that by now I would have been able to give my notice at work (if I'd been accepted somewhere) or know that I would be here for another year / looking for a new job. Instead, my boss is spending a couple thousand dollars to send me to a training conference & I might be leaving in a few months (hopefully. Fingers crossed). So much guilt, but I can't burn the bridge here until I know I have somewhere to go. I have a concrete plan for if I do get in & another for if I don't. I'd just like to start moving forward, rather than lingering in limbo land. Ugh. Rant over. Maybe today will be the day?
  18. I don't know if I'm happy or sad to see every time I come here that I'm not the only person still waiting for word. At least I feel a bit less crazy. Still waiting for Saint Cloud. Supposedly they turned the department decisions over to the graduate school last Thursday - not sure why it would take so long after the graduate school received them (what is that process like anyways? What does the graduate school do?).
  19. Thank you for the update! I've been patiently waiting - slow-burn anxiety, but better than going crazy. I still don't have my hopes up, as I wasn't invited to the interview day, but I'm not letting it die out completely until I get that rejection letter. Here's hoping we'll know by this time next week!
  20. When is their interview day? If I don't hear from them at all, I'm going to assume that I'll have to wait until after that day to receive an admissions decision.
  21. I haven't received anything, although I did go up for a visit in January. I don't know if that would count. *sigh* I have a sinking suspicion it is time for me to look at online post-bacc programs and try again next year.
  22. I would love to work internationally after finishing my degree, but I was wondering if there is some way to split your time? My partner's career has him very much grounded here in the US, so a position at a hospital where I could spend 50-75% of my time here in the US & then the rest working at a clinic abroad would be perfect. I've got Spanish, German, and Turkish under my belt & am currently learning Chinese & Somali. Do hospitals with clinics abroad exist or am I living in fantasyland?
  23. I think there was one other person on this thread who had also applied to Saint Cloud - I know it's early, but have you heard anything yet? I'm expecting a letter late this week or early next...but the SCSU website says that they notify via email and post. The results forum only lists post notifications from previous years, so I don't know if the email notification is new or if the Speech Department just doesn't do that.
  24. I'm pretty sure at least half of those were mine...
  25. Wait before buying Office - every school I've attended offers it either free (for Windows, at my last school) or deeply discouted ($6, for my old mac). It isn't the professional version, but it did include Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I've had a Mac for years, but for those exclusive Windows-only items, I've installed a virtual Windows drive on my Mac. Best of both worlds.
