  1. My graduate studies advisor suggested that I apply for one of these supplements...but do SSHRC M.A. scholarship winners have a chance in this competition? (I ask because I think only 125 of these are awarded to SSHRC recipients). If anyone is currently planning applying or has any information about M.A. chances in this competition, please share your information! Thanks.
  2. Hi, sorry I never replied...thanks very much for your help. When I posted the message above, OSAP's phone line wasn't working... Anyway, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my query.
  3. I have a small amount of loans left over from undergrad (I just graduated). I'm entering graduate studies in the fall. I have had an inordinate amount of difficulty finding out what I am supposed to do...and the OSAP line is down. Do I need to contact OSAP as soon as possible to prevent payments starting over the summer or can this wait until the fall?? (I apologize if this post sounds stupid--my dad took care of OSAP stuff for me, but he's out of the country right now).
  4. Like monkeybrain, I'm submitting an incomplete profile for privacy reasons. Successful/unsuccessful: Successful MA/PhD (if PhD, specify SSHRC/SSHRC CGS/Vanier): M.A. # of years into program: Starting in the fall MA Major Awards & Value: N/A PhD Major Awards & Value: N/A Undergraduate GPA: >3.90/4.00 (4.0 in my program) Research contributions/Publications so far: Nothing really (some undergrad research contributions) Strengths of application: Strong proposal, G.P.A., and letters of recommendation (I also won some undergrad awards, which was probably helpful) Weaknesses of application: I haven't published any papers and I wasn't an RA as an undergraduate Level/Form of Departmental Support (i.e. SSHRC workshops): Great support--there was a departmental workshop, I had access to previous SSHRC proposals, and several profs read over my proposal University at the time of application: McGill

I'm sure your letter will turn up soon, dood. If you received confirmation from your grad coordinator and FGS, then I'm pretty sure you've won it. It seems that some letters might be delayed for some reason--I have no idea, for instance, why I received my letter later than a recipient in Victoria. I'm outside Toronto and I received my letter today for the M.A. SSHRC scholarship. What a very long long weekend...all I can say is that my sympathies are with doctoral applicants. Being in suspense for a few days was not fun--I can't imagine what it must be like to wait any longer. But I'm very grateful for the funding. Good luck to all of you!

    SSHRC

Thanks to those who received their letters from SSHRC and who posted their locations...I appreciate it. Has anyone who has received confirmation about his/her MA SSHRC from GPS or Dept. NOT received his/her letter from SSHRC? I ask because I did not receive a letter today and I'm freaking out. If I don't get the SSHRC, I don't go to school next fall...anyway, sorry to stress on this forum when obviously the doctoral students have more to worry about, but let me know if you didn't receive the letter. (I'm an applicant from McGill, if that makes more sense--GPS and my Dept. have probably known for a week but haven't sent anything).

    SSHRC

For MA SSHRC applicants who have received their letters, could you please post your location? Applicants from McGill...I sympathize. I'm an MA applicant and I STILL haven't heard anything from my Dept. or Graduate Studies.

Does any one know if you get to see what score you received on the SSHRC M.A. application? I'd really like to what score I received, whether or not I win the SSHRC.
