  1. Is this for this upcoming year or for the current first year of the program? As far as I know not a single first year candidate has two years of fellowship. Or if they do they are one or two people out of the 19 who ended up at UCLA.
  2. I didn't even look at the offer I posted. It's actually 17.7 k. And yes. That is low. Plus summer for that year it's 23.3 k for 12 months in LA. You can do it, just don't be living in Weyburn or Hilgard after your first year (those are the nearby graduate housing facilities).
  3. Hey everyone. The numbers floating around for UCLA are slightly incorrect. Last year's offers were largely 24 k for ONE YEAR of fellowship, not two! This has been misinformation that even some graduate students within the program have. I have attached a screen shot of the acceptance letter below. The breakdown was $24,000 first year for a fellowship (no teaching responsibilities). This money IS subject to taxation. Then guaranteed TAship for years 2-5 starting at 17.7k+ and rising The first three summers you are also given a 6k stipend. You have to apply for the a summer research mentorship but even if you don't get it the department will support you. Health insurance IS included. Also, word around the department is they are not offering that summer deal again or it might be changed. That part is total hearsay though. http://i.imgur.com/EFYakv0.jpg
  4. Ohio state has the same visitation day as FSU, at least according to the dates my POI's have told me, so I'm going to have to figure that out.
  5. I know I'm supposed to relax over the weekend but it's not happening.
  6. Normally that means tuition and 17-30 thousand I believe. Although I imagine schools like stanford would have to give more for the living cost of palo alto
  7. Hey! Stanford told me, I forget in what medium, that it would be about the middle of February... and last year it seemed people heard around the 16-19th of February. West Coast seems to take its time! I'm nervous too, but with low expectations.
  8. Staffer at MSU emailed me (1/18/13) asking for a final LOR that hadn't arrived yet (error in communication between me and my advisor) so that they could nominate me for the University Distinguished Fellowship. I asked if that meant I was accepted and they said yes, but we are waiting to hear about funding which will come in later in Feb, early March. My guess is they only contacted me because I was missing a piece of my app.
  9. Thanks for your responses guys, I have since been told that OSU will let me know at the end of February and early March about my financial package as they apply for university fellowships etc... I also found an earlier response regarding UNC that showed they release their acceptances not always at the same time. My nerves have been calmed, and now I just wait for the big fish I applied to. Thanks everyone!
  10. I'm freaking out. I got a letter from OSU but no mention of funding, what does that mean? I'm fearing it means they won't be offering me any. Also, did UNC send out their acceptances already? It seems they must have, which is also upsetting. I have a funded offer already but it's from my certainly last choice school.
