Fulbright (Research) for Georgia. Very excited, trying to get everything in place to do things already!

Good Political Science South Asia programs/faculty?
clangeroo replied to islander's topic in Political Science Forum
Cornell has both China focus and Southeast Asia focus. Otherwise for China - U of Mich, Yale used to be but lately eh according to my advisor, Princeton. -
Overcoming low ranking?
clangeroo replied to Provincial Cosmopolitan's topic in Political Science Forum
I don't think that is what they were saying above. Ranking is not as important to every candidate. They should weigh their own pros and cons - yes ranking is a large factor, but it is just a factor amongst many, and you can't say it trumps everything. -
Rejected Offers Information for Wait-Listers 2013 Entry
clangeroo replied to phdhope2013's topic in Political Science Forum
And anyone turning down Emory, especially in IR or Comp? -
Can anyone claim the Princeton accept? Was it a blast or a POI?
-
Whoa whoa whoa, wait, what? Someone got into the UChicago PhD program? Can someone claim? And what was the "other" communication method?
-
UChicago is still dropping this week, right? With their MAPSS/CIR stuff and rejects?
-
I surrendered and nudged Minnesota. I feel so guilty, I know they're busy, but ahhh!
-
I mean, only 1 rejection doesn't make sense to me, though. BUT I don't know anything for sure of course till that email is in the bag though, so you could totally be right. Edit: CONGRATS TO THE YALEEE!
-
Not to make this situation worse, but they also haven't sent out any rejects yet, so at least some of us are rejects.
-
They haven't, and they always seem to come later, so I wouldn't stress on that one.
-
Are you sure you are going to MD, or still waiting to hear from others?
-
This. I think this is so important - if you have a question, ASK. But if you are contacting them just to be like "oh hi you have research interests, so do I..." then I think it is just...I don't know, I was advised against that by multiple people. Edit: To docgrad - yees, thanks! Sorry, I meant I didn't contact POIs anywhere, at all, 'cause it felt weird to me.
-
I did not. Anywhere. It felt awkward and forced to me in many cases.
-
Congrats to JHU & UMass! Has anyone else still not heard from Minnesota?
-
I JUST GOT MINE TOO. Omg! I'm so excited!
-
IR. Haven't heard yet though, and it is actually my favorite. Such a good fit. Wow, we're awash in red. ): Sorry to all of those hit today.
-
No MA, haven't heard yet. Maryland admits, what subfields are you?
-
Same. Maybe we're waiting on the MA programs? Knock on wood.
-
It's too early to start curling up into a ball clutching job listings and MA rankings yet! I should know, I've been fighting the urge since reject 1. Hold out hope! At least till the beginning of March, c'mon.
-
Tough luck, dude - more still out there!!
-
"Dammit. But we want ALL of the IR/Comp people! How will we fund them, though? Quickly, people! Back to the drawing board!"
-
If it helps, I also am IR/Comp and got nothing. Maybe they're deciding which of us to waitlist, haha.
-
Dude, Wemayet. Have you also still not heard from Minn? When do we hear from Minn!? The website tells me nothing! It's driving me crazy. ):
-
Is anyone IR? Yick, I need to stop stressing out but I reaaaally want/wanted Maryland. I thought I was such a good fit! Famous last words? Dude, trundling on with normal life is so hard with this entire process going on around it.
