  1. I am pretty sure that means you're in dancingquesadilla! congrats! i did my BSW with uvic and thought it was a great program
  2. UVIC results seem to be out for MSW on their website! I wasn't selected so Dalhousie it is for me! Good luck to all waiting on UVic!
  3. Sounds like Dal is a good fit for you then - congrats on the acceptance! I won't be too sad if UVic says no to me and I stay with Dal, just UVic has a few more specific courses that interest me that Dal doesn't offer (yet anyhow). I did phone UVic today to ask about when they would be offering some insight and the girl said later this week with emails next week! My fingers are crossed I will know before the 18th! But that's funny Dal is staggering when people have to pay their deposit by!
  4. Oh interesting! I received my package from Dal and I have to pay my 200.00 deposit by the 18th! I am still waiting on UVic (my first choice) and hoping I find out before I have to shell out the 200 buck deposit.
  5. Anyone out there still waiting on UVic MSW? I was reading last year's status results and someone got an email acceptance from them on March 13th which is next week! I am hoping that's true as I can't bring myself to believe that what they say on their site (will hear by end of April/May) can be true - how much time do they need?!
  6. Aw, sorry to hear sarah428! That's really disappointing. And that really doesn't make sense Dal doesn't offer waitlists! So frustrating because you are totally right about people not accepting offers, etc. I am also waiting on UVic (check my application status every dang day because I have a problem - haha) but I don't know anything about their acceptance % versus apps. And they take soooo long to decide too given that we have to have our apps in by Dec 1st - why on earth do they need until the end of April! Sob.
  7. Ha, I'm sure the acceptance letter you got means it's a-ok. Like someone else commented, I also hate how piece meal it all is for sending notices, etc. I just wish it could be online/email and it's done! No waiting around and some hearing and some not. So brutal. Good luck to everyone still waiting - so hard! UVic said they don't advise until end of April/May but that doesn't stop me from checking my status everyday. Haha. And Power Point, I've applied for distance for both Dal and UVic.
  8. Re: Dalhousie MSW - I also received the same 'acceptance' letter/date as Power Point but haven't received the follow up package. I did get an email last Weds from the Dean of Graduate Studies saying congrats and info about how to set up my email etc though. I also applied to UVic but nothing has changed on that front - still 'File Forwarded to Department' and it seems on their site they say end of April/May (argh! so far away!)
  9. I hear you, it sucks to not be in the know about anything. A few of my friends have applied to UVic too but their status still says the interim review. They submitted their application after I did (mine was Oct 20th) so maybe it's just being done in order of received? My friend that applied at UVic last year said she got an email from them mid-March saying she got into the 2nd round and then received a rejection in April. Such a let down! I think I would rather not get a letter getting my hopes up like that only to still get rejected. Sigh. I saw on their site that they don't finalize until the end of April/May - ugh. So far away. I have also heard that if you don't get into grad school the first kick at it that when you apply again it does help - especially if your app was on the cusp for them last time. I applied to Dal last year and was rejected so maybe that's why it helped me this year. I wish we could get concrete feedback on it all - such a lot of time/energy goes into these applications never to really know proper feedback.
  10. Hi everyone! There were a few that asked about the distance MSW for Dalhousie - I received an acceptance letter on Feb 10th (was dated Feb 7th) that said the Social Work Admissions Committee has recommended my acceptance to the Dean of Graduate Studies but it also has the caveat that although they recommended me, the final decision is by the Dean of Graduate Studies. I haven't heard anything further but I'm guessing I have been accepted? I have also applied to UVic's distance MSW, which is my first choice. Not sure if anyone else is applying there but I just checked online today and my application status changed from 'interim review' to 'File forwarded to department' (not sure if that means anything or not but I was excited to see the change!) Good luck to everyone - the waiting game truly stinks!
