  1. Hi all, I'm considering applying to the Penn MPH part-time for Fall 2018. I have a full time job and am not planning on relocating for this degree, so I am only considering Philadelphia schools. Penn obviously has a very prestigious name in general, and in the medical world, even though the program itself seems to be unranked. Does the name matter in this case? Or would it be similar to me going to Temple (only enticing because of the price tag). Or is online even a better option? Another benefit for Penn for me is that they waive the GRE if you had another graduate degree, which I do. Any and all advice is appreciated. Thanks!
  2. I just like the content of BU's program's better. Their focus is working in urban environments and the ability to do a macro minor and a trauma certificate are very appealing to me. BC has a great intl focus, which isn't currently my interest. Plus they're a little more expensive! But I ended up choosing from my 4 schools based on what they offered me progammatically and location!
  3. I recently got in, which was a surprise... (i'd elaborate more on that part in PM) I already accepted BU and will be up there next week so I was thinking about stopping by. A lot of it would depend on money...but I should go in with an open mind. Where are you deciding between? Why do you like it?
  4. Bumping this up...how was your visit? Anyone else have thoughts?
  5. I would also say that from what I understand from most schools, the grad schools tend to have less of the campus culture than the undergraduate part. I was concerned about this as well- also a lesbian and looking at BC.
  6. I haven't heard great things about Penn's program (from people I know who have gone there or know people who have), plus the price is outrageous in my opinion. Also, I'm looking to leave Philadelphia. I would say going to visit would be really helpful
  7. Probably should have called them back and told them not to falsely advertise ha. I really liked BU today when I went to visit, so I may accept. Wishing more than anything I had applied to Columbia now.
  8. I visited BU today and liked it a lot more than I expected to. Definitely going to make my decision a lot harder. Question- people who applied to BC- how long did it take you to hear?
  9. I asked BU for an extension yesterday and on the phone they said it would be fine, but when I emailed I was denied, so it doesn't look like they're granting extensions. They said I could put the money down and then not take the spot in the end, but obviously it's expensive to lose that money.
  10. WashU gave me scholarship money, Penn and BU didn't. I think that this may also have to do with the volunteer work I did before this, but definitely helpful.
  11. I have visited! I liked WashU itself a lot, but I'm not sure how I feel about St. Louis. Also as someone who is from/has only lived on the East Coast (in the burbs/cities), I'm a little concerned about moving to the Midwest. I don't drive so that's a concern for sure. And just not really having the option to go home if I want to. I waver back and forth between "its only two years" and "what if I'm stuck there" ha The academic rigor is very appealing though, and the campus is beautiful and reminds me of where I went to college.
  12. All of the topics about WUSTL are a little old, so I thought I'd start a new one. The program's ranking is very appealing to me, and they gave me $, which no other school has. However, I'm just unsure and would love others opinions. Why are you interested or not interested in WUSTL? Thanks!
  13. Yea I also just got in, but no money! I got money to another school so I may see if they'll match it.
  14. Does anyone know anything about the Simmons MSW program? My mom would like me to apply there, but I would love to hear any information about it. Thanks!
  15. Honestly, I never checked the website to see whether it was under review or not...I knew it was going to be the first school that I heard from so I tried not to freak out and therefore was just waiting ha.
  16. My stuff all got in right on the deadline (12/15) (my recommenders were slow). I'm not sure if it helped, but I had made a visit to WashU in October, so I had talked to them before.
  17. I did not. But I got a letter. (And an email about a week later)
  18. I think we are? What did you email from them say?
  19. Ah damn!! Now I'm really nervous beacuse that's my timeline as well.
  20. Did you just get it in on that date? Or beforehand?
  21. When did you all get your stuff in/completed by? I'm getting nervous now, but my stuff wasn't fully in until the deadline.
  22. I heard back 2 weeks ago! Hopefully you'll hear soon
