  1. Man, I hope so! Don't want to get my hopes up too high. Thanks for the encouragement though!
  2. Well, that certainly isn't comforting haha. Who's going to join me in the wait for the DAAD scholarship? Best of luck to all the grantees!
  3. Well, I'm here with my tail between my legs from the Fulbright announcements. Anybody else like to join me in my alternate/rejected flailing frustrations?
  4. Crushed...alternate to Germany full grant..ouch Anyone know how many alternates are generally selected..?
  5. Hmmmm.....it doesn't matter so long as it's strong lol.
  6. Hello everyone! Just wondering if there is anyone else out there accepted to the university of Oldenburg in Germany?
  7. Ugh...next week! Well, hope everyone has a good easter then! Hopefully that will distract us a bit.
  8. Anyone considering loans for grad school if the scholarship doesn't work out?
  9. Here's to hoping that leslie was correct in my facebook message (end of march which is this week) and the other NY rep wasn't (first week in april). Not that it matters a whole lot either way, just an extra weekend to either have some celebratory drinks or some for.....other reasons.
  10. *Sigh Another day of waiting. I almost wish that the previous spreadsheets wouldn't have been published. Then I would think nothing of not hearing until late March.
  11. I'm not sure if I actually believe that they are out of the office right now. They know that all of us are itching to know and probably receiving a hundred calls a day.
  12. That's what I was thinking haha. Tricky.
  13. Ha! March 18th-22nd she's out of the office!
  14. Wait, they don't have phones at your work? lol jk I'm gonna do it!!
  15. Cara Doble Senior Program Officer, Fulbright U.S. Student Program Germany and South / Central Asia Phone +1.212.984.5519 Who's a brave enough German applicant to call?
  16. That is some really good information, I thank you for that perspective and I know some other people do as well. It's interesting to see how your view of the application process changed in order to finally reach your goal! I'm sure that this is a huge day for you you! I'll keep this in mind and maybe talk it over with my FPA so others can have a better handle on exactly what to write. Overall, a lot of people I think are focusing on how super awesome they are and forget that this is primarily a cultural thing. Thanks a lot and congrats again jmv34!
  17. Congrats! You did it! Just a quick question (hope for the best, prepare for the worst), how much did you change up your application after the years that you did not get accepted? Maybe that is not a simple question. Did you rewrite everything? Modify a few things?
  18. Ohh yes...those fantasies about frolicking through northern Germany are nice to have for the moment.... And to the guys that guy in, woohoo! Sorry to all those that found out alternate status, but keep your chin up and there's still a chance!
  19. I know right? At least with other scholarships (the Fulbright) we know that we made the first round or not. Here it's just....turn in your application....wait 5 months......and then BAM! Yes or no.
  20. Anyone having trouble focusing on absolutely everything? I swear I just sit in lectures and space out the entire time.
  21. Or maybe there was too few applicants and they are deciding how much bonus money to give us. I have no clue how many applicants there generally are or how many grants are available to be honest.
  22. Me Any news on the DAAD study scholarship announcement front I'm on pins and needles! 2:56pm DAAD North America Hi Paul, I can imagine!! You will hear by the end of March. The office in NYC is just waiting for the stamps of approval from Bonn. You'll hear either way within the next 2.5 weeks... Sorry I can't say its sooner! Best from San Francisco, Leslie From facebook chat.
  23. Hey now! We may be dorky but we still have feelings haha.
  24. I should warn you, if you like to have a healthy social life....don't do engineering and expect to do well lol. There are a few people that manage, but most of us spend our days (and nights) studying. For example, I woke up this morning and was surprised to find I was growing a beard...haven't even had time to have a proper shave in a week and a half. Alternatively, now I can say that I'm doing the world series thing, growing a beard until the fulbright finals.
