  1. I actually did hear on Friday (small amount of funding that has effectively knocked Ford out of the running), but I would suggest checking your spam filter and any secondary email address you might have listed. That's where my SAIS funding info email ended up going, and I wouldn't have even thought to check if it weren't for people posting in gradcafe!
  2. Bummer! I'm still waiting for my email, but considering the one person to get funding got their notification yesterday, I've pretty much written it off.
  3. Congrats @campussartorialist and thank you for the info. It's 4:24 Michigan time. I really hope something happens in the next 36 minutes. I really want to arrange travel plans and I need to know if MI is a contender!
  4. Michigan's tuition is like $36k/year out-of-state, so you're really not getting much of a discount there. Anyhow, what are your goals for after the degree?
  5. Has anyone gotten any funding info?
  6. Thank you! This map is encouraging. It's not like I think I'm going to get stuck in Texas Jail for the rest of my life, but I am worried about how much weight the LBJ name carries outside of the state, and how much of an uphill battle it will be to get people to trust in the value of my degree right out the gate. I am also interested in the specific organizations that people end up working at. And I have read a lot of LBJane's comments, but I want to hear from more than one person who has succesfully made it into the federal government. There will always be exceptions to the rule. @MPPgal - I think you mentioned in another thread that you visited campus recently. Care to share more details about your impressions of the school? I'm not sure I'll be able to make it in April.
  7. I unexpectedly got some serious funding from UT-Austin LBJ. I could potentially graduate debt-free, while my next best offer would put me at least 40k extra in debt. So Texas has become an unexpected front runner. Here is my dilemma: I am not from Texas, and am mostly interested in federal issues. According to the school's own data, 61% of grads stay in Texas, and 19% end up in DC. While of course there are scenarios in which I might fall in love with Texas and want to stay, I would start the program aiming to be part of that 19%. So fellow Gradcafe-ers, those of you who are more familiar with LBJ (current students, alumni, people who know current students/alumni, people who have visited...): what kinds of jobs do LBJ graduates land in? For the ones that make it to DC, what kinds of organizations do they work for? What kinds of positions do they fill? How much extra legwork do they have to do considering the locational disadvantages? For those that stay in Texas - are they mostly working for state/local governments? In Austin? Or spread across the state? Etc.
  8. I wish we didn't have to wait until next week for funding. I need to make travel plans to visit my top two contenders, and it would be nice to know if I'll be planning a trip to Ann Arbor as well!
  9. Why the hell are you even applying to public policy/IR programs? Did you not look into these degrees remotely before submitting applications? I'm sure people getting degrees in clinical psychology and nursing have a pretty hard times getting interviews at private-sector consulting firms. too.
  10. @brooklyn11 - didn't even apply to SIPA, but this was an informative post in general.
  11. Out. Not surprised after getting dinged by HKS, but still sad nonetheless. At least I won't be spending the next two years in suburban New Jersey, I guess.
  12. Yeah I woke up 45 minutes before my alarm today feeling nervous. I have two good options right now, so it's not as if everything is riding on WWS. Plus I've known from the start that it's a total longshot. But I can't quite give up hope yet. Eek!
  13. Seconded! Mine actually went to a secondary email address, but seeing all these posts about it going into other people's spam folders made me check only to find out that I also got a 20k fellowship!! I thought I was set on another program, but now this is making me confused.
  14. Thank you! One more thing to obsess over.
  15. What is WWS's Twitter handle? The one I found (@WilsonSchool) only seems to post general WWS news, nothing admissions-specific.
  16. Also, does anyone know of situations in which people got dinged by HKS, but admitted to WWS? I guess I should just give up on that application, too.
  17. Out. Not surprised, but I am a little bitter about having to write all those damn fellowship essays!
  18. I got a small amount of funding, but there's no way it will offset 42k in tuition and living in DC. So Dinosaur7 - if you want to take a stab at negotiating, my money will definitely be freed up! You could probably get the ball rolling by calling the admissions office and saying something like "I really want to attend GPPI, but finances are very tight, and I was wondering if you think there is a chance more money could be freed up for the incoming class?" Or maybe that's too roundabout, I don't know.
  19. Not sure if this is your issue, but keep scrolling down past the point where you think you should. It took me a second. There should be a little chart where it breaks down scholarships, assistantships, and fellowships.
  20. Oh thank God, I'm in! No money though.
  21. So nobody's gotten an email either way? At least there's some small hope to cling to. At this point, I'm assuming that even if I do get in, I won't be receiving any aid based on the posts above.
  22. What do you mean, an aid agreement? Oh God, I'm losing hope.
  23. Sorry to hear that you didn't make the cut. It is strange that they notified you before the HKS notifications have come out, but I doubt that assures that you didn't make it into HKS. All of these fellowships are even more competitive than HKS admissions, and Zuckerman even more so since it's for dual-degree applicants (if I remember correctly). Harvard's entire system of applying for fellowships before receiving admissions decisions really does boggle the mind.
  24. Well, I am a U.S. citizen (currently living in the U.S.), and my admissions status was updated to 'admitted' last Friday. But I have not received any info on funding either way. In the admissions letter I downloaded from the application site, it said that funding info would come via regular mail. So my theory (or hope?!?!) is that they mailed out all the funding info to domestic applicants yesterday, and emailed it to international applicants to save on postage. Fingers crossed for a big, fat envelope waiting in my mailbox when I get home from work today. Eek!
