  1. Thanks! It's my first choice school and I'm about to die of glee.
  2. I am losing my mind. My email server isn't working and I'm sitting here freaking out waiting to learn my fate.
  3. Congrats! Which Canadian school, for those of us poor wretches applying to multiple international schools?
  4. Has anyone heard what their application numbers were? Last year I remember they had an insane number of applications and there was a landslide of rejections all at once.
  5. I'm pretty confident, I feel like they wouldn't have offered to read over and advise on my separate funding application that's due next week and offer back up plans if they weren't going to say yes?
  6. Interview for first choice school done and I'll know either way by tomorrow morning.
  7. I'd run into my probable advisor earlier that day and it was INCREDIBLY strained and awkward, and on top of that I wasn't that great a fit/personalities hadn't really meshed well. I wasn't upset, mostly I was annoyed that the rejection had taken so long when there'd already been several rounds of them.
  8. I know I got my Northwestern rejection on Valentine's Day last year while I was at CAA. I'd already figured it out but it was a good excuse to order a ridiculous quantity of pizza and veg out for the evening.
  9. I think I'm going to, both for feedback and because I don't want to have eavesdroppers since I'm doing it in a spare office at work. I'm about to lose my cottonpickin mind with waiting- it's got to be some kind of psychological torture to schedule an interview 5 weeks in advance for 5 days before funding applications are due.
  10. http://gawker.com/parents-let-their-kid-crawl-all-over-3-million-sculptu-1510658139?utm_campaign=socialflow_gawker_facebook&utm_source=gawker_facebook&utm_medium=socialflow Let us all join at once in disdain for these parents, to distract ourselves from the waiting.
  11. When doing a skype interview, do you guys wear headphones to prevent feedback?
  12. This slow trickle of acceptances on the results board is driving me absolutely crazy even though none of them are schools I've applied to.
  13. Wheee I finally heard back from the person I'm interviewing with at my first school and apparently it's going to be very informal, so I don't have to worry about having my whole dissertation planned out in advance after all!
  14. Ugh I hate the words "Documents Pending." I know that the admin has to go in and change everyone's over manually but waaaaaah it's been a month and everything's already marked as waived or received, I just want to see the little notification saying "Application under consideration."
  15. Broadly 19th C, mostly sculpture but also works on paper and gender and queer studies.
  16. One of my letter writers just pointed out that an SOP for one school that had another school's name in it so I wouldn't worry too much!
  17. Man, I can barely put Ikea stuff together, but Hitler already had phones, and wireless communication technology via the radio. Give him a solid Nokia and who knows what his top military minds could come up with.
  18. If Hitler gets his hands on technology from the 21st century, it shifts the technological timeline in his favor and his scientists could reverse engineer stuff out of it. It'd be like giving M16s to the conquistadors. I may or may not have 1) watched too much sci fi as a kid and 2) spent too much time thinking about this.
  19. Ah but what about changing the timeline, or dying before you make it back? All kinds of butterfly effect stuff could happen. Also, free lunches- what if Hitler gets a cellphone?
  20. I'd be too worried about a Michael Crichton sort of scenario to go back in time to see things. No one likes getting stabbed.
  21. Does anyone want to join me in harassing the science people to see if they have a time machine so we can speed this whole process up?
