Received waitlist letter today from SVA. I really would love to go there (if I got off the waitlist- fingers crossed)- I am in love with their Illustration as Visual Essay program. But I'm worried about the high cost of NYC and tuition. And they don't offer scholarships, anyone know? From what I could see, it looks like a few $1,000 scholarships are offered here and there. Still waiting on Tulane, although seeing as how some have already received their acceptances, I am assuming a rejection from them. Congrats to everyone thus far!

I haven't heard anything from Tulane - Do they interview everyone? I imagine final notifications will be sent out sometime this week.

Anyone hear from UT Austin or Tulane for Painting/Drawing? I emailed UT and they said all notifications would be sent out no later than March 1st.

I too got rejected from SAIC's MFA program, but was offered their "prior degree program". I talked to one of my references who gave the advice not to accept. He suggested that if it were my only option in the end, he would consider it. It is a fantastic school, but if there are other offers on the table, then take them! Hope this helps in some way.

Congrats!!! To what program did you apply? I'm awaiting their response for painting/drawing- thinking it may be rejection since I haven't heard anything yet. And- I worked at LAL for 4 years! Weird coincidence. I know the girl in your "compliments" video.

Got the phone call and email- accepted to WashU (painting/drawing). Super excited, but super anxious to hear back from my remaining 4 schools...... Anyone going to open house next Friday the 1st?

I wish I would have found this forum earlier. What great information- and what an appropriately named forum title, because I am indeed freaking out right now. I guess I am considered a non-traditional applicant- been in a career for almost 7 years, but always knew I wanted to get an MFA some day. I also have a BA from a not-so-well-known art program at a state university, which I'm hoping will not hurt my chances. This is my first year applying. Applied drawing/painting programs: SAIC, UT Austin, Tulane, WashU, Tyler, SVA Heard back from ONLY SAIC this week- they rejected my MFA app, but offered me a spot in their "prior degree" program, which is a part of their BFA program- with hopes I would build my portfolio and apply again next cycle. What's your take on that option (if it were to be my only one)? Best of luck to everyone!
