  1. This!!! So much!! Im in the exact same boat. My lease is also coming up very soon and I havent even heard back from half of the schools I applied to. I cant make any commitments and my life is just in flux. Its so depressing. Im supposed to fill out performance goals for next year at work(due tomorrow, its a huge thing for this company) and im not even sure what to put down cos if eveything goes to plan, Im quitting at the end of the summer to hopefully go to grad school and Im pretty sure no one is going be entertained by me putting down, "Going to quit in 3 months" for my goals. One option Ive been considering is just getting a storage unit for the most of my stuff and then finding a short sublet for the next few months until i figure out whats going on. Storage units arent that expensive(about $50 for a 10x10 unit in the east coast and that can accomodat the belongings of 2 people if you dont have any bulky furniture that will take up a lot of space)
  2. Actually, this is not the reason why MIT doesnt use GREs. High school math and verbal skills are definitely needed in a research environment(how else would you be prepared to write papers/thesis and do the mathematical calculations, etc). The reason why MIT doesnt use GREs is that, the GRE scores are not an accurate representation of peoples grasp of the material being tested for. The GREs are biased towards people who are good test takers, its been proven that you usually do better if you are good at taking tests and pacing yourself which is agood skill and does have some importance but isnt really important and helpful to MIT in figuring out if youre going to be a perfect fit for their grad program. That being said, im really glad MIT doesnt require GREs. On the other hand, Im really frustrated at this long wait to find out whats the status of our applications.
  3. So nervous right now. Good luck all!! May the best individuals triumph. (I'll hopefully be in this category come tomorrow)
  4. Actually, EE doesnt refer to us(EECS phd) when used internally at MIT. If you check here: http://www.eecs.mit.edu/academics-admissions/graduate-program/degree-programs , you'll notice EE refers to the Electrical Engineer Program.
  5. I called Indiana Bloomington on Tuesday and was told that they were mailing out decisions this week. This was for Informatics applications so Im not sure if this decision notification timeline is the same for CS applications but I imagine it is because Informatics and CS are the same department and they share the same admissions coordinator. So yeah, fingers crossed!!
  6. @mitindian It is funny how determined you are to give up hope. You're like that kid with the put up bravado who's trying so hard to convince themselves nothing will ever go right, that way if whatever they're waiting for doesnt go right, they can claim to have seen it coming and pretend not to be disappointed. It is kinda funny reading your short post history and watching you go from optimistic to suddenly being despondent and changing your tune. I work in Boston at a firm affiliated with MIT(started by MIT faculty). I work professionally in my field with quite a lot of current MIT faculty and of course they're too ethical to say anything outright but from hearsay and indirect questions, what I've so far gathered from them is that what admissions is saying is right. They might have accepted a few people(POI wanted them and had the funding, etc) but yes, we are going to hear back from MIT on the bulk of admits and rejects very soon. Friday should be here in 3 days so we'll see in 3 days! Good luck everyone! PS: It is really obvious that more than half of MIT admits posted in the results are trolls as you yourself pointed out in your first post. Anyway, if youre so convinced that youve already been rejected, please feel free to email them right now to withdraw your app just incase you're holding up a position that someone else will gladly take.
  7. @Mitindian What Im trying to say is that I was told both admits and rejects are coming this friday.
  8. I also called them last thursday and was told decisions will be coming out from this coming Friday until March so I have not given up hope yet.
