The absurd over-analysis of a basic term that will never leave our study's vernacular is representative of the downfall of academia. If we are going to sit around and argue semantics, rather than contributing important research or aiding in conservation and protective efforts for the monuments we have in this world, then we deserve to be the butt of every joke directed towards us. I loathe this sort of discourse when it has no obvious end goal. It's so unproductive.

I'm Colonial Latin American. I'd love suggestions as well! I'll consider this a "take a penny, leave a penny" type thread, so in exchange for suggestions, I'll leave you with one of mine: Women and Art in Early Modern Latin America, edited by Kellen Kee McIntyre. It's literally the only book on the subject, and it was only written in 2007.

I got my rejection letter recently. No news good news?

Does anyone know about its acceptance rates? Couldn't find anything online, though there seemed to be plenty of acceptances on thegradcafe's results search for years past. Anyone else waiting on their decision?

No word on Brown or Harvard. Only two Rutgers acceptances are on the board, so I'm sure they're not done yet. Did you get rejected by them, or just haven't heard from them? Big difference.

1. Standardized applications. DEAR LORD. STANDARDIZED APPLICATIONS. One program, all your information. 2. Lower the damn application fee. 3. Have adcomms release dates of decision in advance. 4. Funding. Enough said.
