  1. I emailed them twice because I was worried they missed my email but someone replied they did in fact receive it haha. She said they'll get back to us soon about registration, etc!
  2. As a completely biased answer, the University of Kansas has an awesome intersection of SLA and ERP research--along with connections to the medical school and access to both EEG and fMRI technology as well. There are two very active labs in these areas, the SLA lab the Neurolinguistics lab, and many students (like myself) work in both of them. If you ever have any more questions about KU, feel free to PM me!
  3. UA SLAT is a great program! I wanted to apply there but I'm coming straight from undergrad and didn't want to get a terminal masters before a PhD... same with Hawaii at Mano'a. Keep me updated when you hear back from your schools!
  4. Does anyone else have the problem of schools coordinating their open house on the same dates? I had already confirmed with another school by the time two others had invited me out for the same weekend. Ugh! I'm trying to coordinate personal visits later to help me with the ultimate decision, but it's good to know that I can still get somewhat of an experience from an individual visit.
  5. I'm not sure if anyone is still reading this topic, but I thought I'd throw my two cents in. I'm personally interested in SLA/Psycholinguistics and chose to apply to a crop of schools that suited that specific cross section. I list the programs that I applied to that have a strength in those areas: 1. UIUC 2. U of Pitt 3. IU at Bloomington 4. U of Kansas 5. CUNY 6. UMass 7. Georgetown I've been accepted to the first five of those schools, and am waiting to hear back from the last two (and quite probably assuming rejection). Anyone else here have a background/interest in these areas? I'd love to talk to others with similar interests!
  6. I second the department acceptance. I've found consistently that I hear back from the department much faster than the actual university. I was told that there are plenty of logistical annoyances that can hold up formal paperwork, so don't be too worried.
