  1. I would also take into account the location of your program. Do you want to stay in CA after you finish or do you want to be somewhere else? Both are great programs but it sounds like UCLA feels right for you. I wouldn't second guess yourself too much. That being said Penn was the right program for me. I was deciding between two private universities and one public. But I would have gone to the public being from out of state and at the end of the day it will prob only be the difference of $5000-$10,000 more for a private institution for me. I want to live in New England and know that Penn's name will help me secure a job most likely at a higher salary so I know it's the right spot. I also picked the school that is in a more budget friendly city compared to the other private institution. So if you do want to move east after you finish school then you might want to look at Penn more closely. Not that you won't get a great opportunity with a degree from UCLA but you may have more connections going to school on the east coast. Good luck! PS-what a great problem to have, picking between three outstanding opportunities!
  2. I can only really speak to the higher ed program for the most part. I had heard from multiple people that TC only had two dedicated faculty and then faculty focused in other divisions. I also had heard that there wasn't much of a cohort experience due to a higher percentage of part-time students. This was from a past student. I also wanted to make sure I had a grad assistantship because I want some practical experience as well. TC didn't seem quite as supportive in this process. That being said I did not visit TC so maybe my perceptions would have changed but Penn just feels right for me especially after visiting and meeting the professors. Interestingly I just spoke with a current HGSE higher ed student and their program does not seem to have much of a practical component. She even said she knew some that had wished they had gone to Penn for that reason so was nice to have my perceptions confirmed. So I think everything has worked out the right way for me based on the grad experience I'm looking for. Good luck with your decision. As of last week I was definitely riddled with indecision but now I'm owning the one I've made. That being said I'm sure you can't go wrong with either school, anybody who sees your résumé will want to get you in for an interview. What an awesome position to be in.
  3. After visiting Penn, it's a no brainer. Excited to be making my home in Philly!
  4. Mine has my scholarship (which was also in my acceptance letter) and also has loans and work study information.
  5. I got mine at like 8:30 p.m. last Friday night but they also may be doing it in waves per someone else's post on here or by program. Good luck!
  6. I just spoke with Student Financial Services and they wait on information from GSE. It looks like GSE has not provided any information yet (unless maybe if you have already accepted) to SFS so no award letters have been created. I am waiting on a message from the Office of Financial Services so I can confirm they have received my FAFSA and to get a better timeline. SFS said award letters should come out the week of April 15th. I mentioned that I wanted to compare with another school and they just said to go back to GSE. It sounds like DNguyen knows what's up. Looking forward to meeting fellow Higher Ed admits on Sunday
  7. I got a scholarship in my acceptance letter and then got the financial aid letter last Friday night. I did find it in my Gmail Spam folder so make sure you are checking there too, good luck!
  8. After reviewing their financial aid page, I can't tell if they give the information after you accept but then that doesn't seem right. I'm going to call the office tomorrow to check. Are you leaning to one over the other? I'm definitely leaning towards Penn and hoping the financial aid would prove my point.
  9. I just got my financial aid letter from TC. Has anybody received any financial aid information from Penn? I want to make sure I'm not missing anything. Thanks!
  10. Awesome, I'm excited to go visit March 24-26 since I haven't been yet. What are you getting your Ph.D in? I think Penn is my first choice but waiting for the visit before I officially commit.
  11. Congratulations everybody! Alas I did not get in but have amazing options so am not disappointed. An adventure awaits me in a new city
  12. HGSE did not close early today and the snow really started letting up around 2. It's relatively clear out there so maybe they want to stay late in hopes of missing some traffic. I did hear from someone who heard two years ago they generally separate the EDLD candidates decisions from the masters decisions so I'm not sure if all of those decisions have gone out yet. Perhaps they are focusing on that first before the rest of us.
  13. Well definitely a blizzard here in Cambridge this morning. HGSE is still open but I'm guessing people may leave early so I'm going to resign myself to not knowing until next week. Not impressed.
  14. Today meaning March 7th and notifications were March 6th last year and March 8th the year before that.
  15. I was thinking that might be the case with Easter weekend the week before. Well we can still hope they are going to split the difference with today. Do those dates conflict with any other school visitation days?
