Hi bourdieu- I feel you! I am in a similar position at Yale, high on the wait list but no indication as to what that exactly means in terms of getting in. The positive advice I have been given so far, is that the wait list is generally compiled under the assumption that not every accepted candidate will accept the offer. So maybe think of it this way: If someone was "qualified" enough to get into U Chicago or Yale for that matter, the chances are they have a number of really solid offers from other programs at very high ranking departments. So in this case, ranking high on the wait list is a good sign!

It's ok, Ramya. Keep your head up There's still a decision from Harvard lurking out there. Does anyone have any advice as far as being wait listed? Is there a proper etiquette in communicating with anybody at this point? Should I communicate with anybody at all? I've never been in this situation so any thoughts you guys may have would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Hi Ramya- thank you! No, they did not tell me a thing about where I was on the wait list. It was the official e-mail though. The letter basically said I would know after April 15th…. so here's to more waiting :/ As for Harvard, I still haven't heard anything yet. I'm on the west coast so I may hear a couple days after you do.

I hear you arglooblaha….this sucks! I noticed you applied to cultural forms at UT. I did too. Have you heard anything at all regarding this one?

@mochicologa: I couldn't agree with you more! We shall wait and see and hopefully will know by this week. I think those of us that haven't heard from Yale may still be in the game as NOTHING has gone out yet in terms of acceptances or rejections. The fact that the two people that did hear of their acceptances from POI's have not received "official" word yet is a good indicator that the department may still have been haggling as we were sweating it out :/

Ok, so I talked with the GSAS and Anthro department today at Yale. GSAS told me that as soon as decisions are made on individual applications then they send an e-mail, which seems strange because no one has posted official acceptances or rejections as of yet. The department told me they are still reviewing and making final decisions but we should hear by the end of the week if not sooner. Hope this helps!

Hi Ramya, I don't think anybody has heard anything official from Yale yet. At least not according to what has been posted here. I think we'll be hearing something this week.

Mochicologa- do you know if acceptances have gone out for archaeology already?

Hi Platysaurus- what is your concentration in anthro? Mine is archaeo and I still have yet to hear anything from a POI.

Does anyone know if admission and rejections from Yale go out at the same time? I know that the people who were accepted from POI's have not received the official e-mail yet. Should they come out together next week, or admits first? Thanks!

Keep your head up Ramya! I applied to the archaeology subdivision at Yale which I know is relatively small compared to socio-cultural and bio. I went out there and met with my POI and other faculty but of course there is no way to be certain of anything. At least we made the first cut I think you are right…next week should be the week for Yale and Harvard.

Hi Ramya- I also applied to Yale and Harvard and haven't heard anything yet. I know the two people that posted acceptances for Yale heard from POI's so as far as I can tell, we still may have a glimmer of hope there. As for Harvard, not sure what to say :/

Coffeeandmilk- As far as Harvard goes, I'm not too sure. It seems Harvard is one of the schools that has the most uncertainty when it comes to data on this board. I know one poster wrote that all archaeology decisions had been made a month ago, which I found strange because Harvard started back from winter break on Jan.28th. I'm pretty sure you will find out in post within the week. I don't think they send an e-mail notification unless its from a POI.

Thanks Radiomars! Indeed, contact from POI seems like a personal choice the professor makes. I suppose other faculty are more into making you wait it out, or perhaps just don't think to much about it. I hope I'm still in contention as long as official notices haven't come out yet. I wish all POI's would give a friendly heads up before hand, either way.

Hello everyone and congrats to those of you who have heard good news! I wanted to ask a question in regards to Yale. For those of us who haven't heard news from POI's, would it be safe to assume we still may have a chance? I know some POI's will e-mail and some will not. As far as I can tell nothing official has gone out yet so maybe hope remains for those of us who haven't heard anything. I would appreciate any input. Thanks!

Radiomars- what subdivision are you applying for ay Yale? I'm archaeology.

Has anyone heard any news from Yale? I called the department and they said another week or so for decisions.

I'm not sure with the new scores but I think on the old scale it is 1200-1250. It's funny to me because some Ivy Leagues don't have a cut off. My friend was excepted to Brown this year with a very, very poor GRE. He had other stellar credentials, conference presentations, field work, a publication, etc.

Hi Tezcatlipoca. You must have had a pretty decent GRE score, right? I was going to apply to Tulane for Mesoamerican archaeology but apparently they have a GRE cut off.

I had a skype interview back on the 5th. I haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone else?
